I watched the first part & quite enjoyed it, probably because of the lack of their music. I started to watch another doc on Bob Weir a while back & had to bail out after half an hour or so. Aimless jams just don’t do it for me I’m afraid.
It’s good and endeavours to explain how and why you might get it all, albeit in a drug-addled way. It seems drugs weren’t part of the picture, they were the picture.
It’s not a bad job. Like most docs limited by the footage available to the makers which can skew the emphasis a little. Some great interviews though, Sam Cutler is terrific and I loved the footage of Garcia scuba diving

Now, that I would like to see.
Also on Amazon Prime there’s a feature length interview doc with film director Brian De Palma called De Palma (2016). It was very good.
