“Johnny Winter’s Polaris White Firebird, considered to be the “Holy Grail” of all rock guitars. Features iridescent (mother of pearl) notches along fretboard.”
Considered to be the “Holy Grail” by who? Yes, it’s a lovely guitar, but there are many other models just as desirable and plenty more that are worth more money (without the provenance). A 1958-60 sunburst Gibson Les Paul for example. And unless I’ve misunderstood, those “iridescent (mother of pearl) notches along fretboard” are probably just the regular inlays that all guitars have.
Very tasty…..time to buy a scratchcard….
Loads of stuff I fancy in that sale as a lifelong fan of the great man, but it’s all a bit expensive!
A touch of hyperbole by the auctioneers, I fear:

Definitely agree about the hyperbole….
….however, I have to confess that I am one of the freaks & weirdos who would rather own Manzanera’s Firebird VII than Clapton’s Beano LP…..
That red Firebird did spring to mind, too.
Reading further, it seems there are 30 guitars up for auction, including Johnny’s six Gibson Firebirds. I’d love to see the complete collection.
Did you see the line up on the poster at that auction? Shows how entrenched the blues was at “Pop festivals” in those days.
