Not only do they live in Glasgow, but the line up for Summer Nights at Kelvingrove Bandstand looks particularly good. And for me the standout is Roddy Frame.
(Waits for Bingley to announce what if anything it is doing this year)

I think this year’s BML only scraped in by the skin of its teeth, paul – largely funded by BMDC and well, as most councils don’t have a pot to piss in, things like this are often the first casualties. Hope it’s not the last. We’re just over the hill from Myrtle Park, so it’s always been a no-brainer for us. Peaked in 2013 with Human League/Primal Scream/Nile Rodgers, but always some interesting acts on.

Hard to beat Nile Rodgers in the week he was Number 1 with Daft Punk.
We are down the road but still walking distance. Last year was announced pretty late. I think they were waiting to see who was left around for and fancied one more date at the end of the summer season.
Hope it goes ahead – hard to argue with £50 for 3 days.

Well, they had the dismal Manics on last year, so this year has got to be better! Living where I do, I had to keep my windows closed to make sure I couldn’t hear them…

I thought they were alright. I mean I did almost literally cross the road to see them and they were worth that. But not a good year. The Wombats as headliners? Highlight was Badly Drawn Boy (who strangely thought he played so badly he said he was giving his fee to charity).

It’s scary. Jane McCarry is the same age as me.

I’m from Glasgow and none of this really excites me I’m afraid! It’s quite expensive as well, if memory serves from when I looked up prices a couple of years ago. Nice little venue though. It lay derelict all the years I was a student at Glasgow uni round the corner, so it’s good something decent has been made of it now.

£70 for Bryan Ferry, £30 to £40 generally I think. Depends on your tastes but I’d go to 7 out of 12.

I’ll be curious to find out if Roddy still has /that/ voice…
paulwright says
Well, I’m going to find out in November at the City Varieties in Leeds. Almost sold out (bought mine before posting, I’m not daft. Well, I am. But not that daft)
But there are (I think) 5 solo dates for Roddy Frame in England in the autumn after Kelvingrove in August.

Yup, just got one for Town Hall Brum.
