Attention, please, from anyone interested in a casual Glasgow Mingle (with a Bona Fide International Guest). Sal Warpe of the Bonn parish is in town, and would like to meet up with whoever is available. I suggest Saturday 6th – late afternoon for beers and blethers with the option of food and record shopping.
How about starting in Mono (which includes a bar, a great range of food and a record shop) and then moving on to the Laurieston ?
Love to, but too skint.
Would have loved to travel up to Glasgow Town but at 6 days notice, not enough.
@El-hombre-malo – you are a gent for setting this up and I look forward to meeting you and others immensely. I can’t say when I can wrest myself away from the big tents down by the Clyde – negotiations have a habit of dragging on to the last dot and comma – but we get guaranteed a day off on Sunday. So I might not be able to start early, but I probably wouldn’t need to finish early.
I would love to have joined this too but fear Glasgow will be full of hangers on trying to get their photo opportunity plus I am in Scotland the following week. Hope you have a great day and as a Sassenach I can say that Mono is great for music and food. Their vegetarian hotdog with home made chips was bloody fantastic.
Great idea EHM! I haven’t been in your company since the day several years ago at Be In Beltane in Wishy when I accosted you and demanded my five quid. I was with my chums, Sandy Jones and Graeme Duffin and the guys in Crossfire. A fleeting moment. However, as I now live in Dumfries, the trip to Glasgow offers some logistical problems, not least of which is COP26. I have already postponed a proposed trip to Glasgow on 5/11/21 due to the fact that it is bang in the middle of the potential chaos of COP26. Maybe next time.
Would have liked a jaunt to Glesca with more notice (and more funds).
It is not to be on this occasion.
See you in That London, El Hombre for the Primevals gig at the Hope & Anchor on the 26th.
looking forward to it! booked the van yesterday!
My thanks to @el-hombre-malo for a terrific afternoon in Mono and The Press Bar. Lovely to meet an AWer in the flesh for the first time, and a real proper touring musician at that. Top tales and fine drinks. A pleasure to meet him. Plus I had a dive into the record shop part of Mono and made away with 6 CDs. Probably not wise after a few Guinnesses, but on the rule that anything with a black cover and monochrome writing must be good, I’ve got albums by Blancmange, Battles, Cowboy Junkies, Fader and Hope Sandoval to look forward to, once I get to a CD player. Must be a few good songs in there somewhere
You are Jones the Steam and I claim my five Welsh Cakes.

You both look exactly like your avatars.
great to meet up – hope you keep on enjoying Glasgow!
Thanks – the work finishes on Thursday for my team, so I have a couple of days free. Glasgow’s a great city to explore – and everyone is really friendly, so I expect to have fun before I return to Bonn on Sunday.
You look like you had fun.
Sorry I couldn’t make it, a shame as I am not far from Glasgow. I should have responded to this thread and it was rude of me not to. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the city Salwarpe, maybe another time!
I’m not a huge fan of Mono – the categories baffle me and I can never find anything. I also never feel hip enough in there. (But I get that everywhere).
