Glorious dance pop like this is the great music of our times I would suggest and it’s mostly the ladies that are showing the way. In recent years such wondrous classics and gems have been coming thick and fast and I feel we should celebrate them with a thread. Rock is dead, long live pop!

Hello @locust. Yes I’ve seen this. I like it. I enjoy that sort of 1920s retro element. Should be a big hit I would have thought. Can see it going down a storm at weddings and bar-mitzvahs, if there’s any justice.
I found the Robyn/Royksopp combo pleasant enough but a teeny bit too long-winded and tasteful to really push all my buttons. I love Robyn when she does this stuff:

What I love about these “electro pop girls” is that most of them, while making dancey poppy tunes, they’re not afraid to do weird or pretentious or ugly at the same time.

I’d never heard of her before seeing her play in a very crowded tent at Roskilde. She know hot to put on a great show.
And from Norway, another band I saw do a great show at that Danish festival: Highasakite.

Good to see this is still going. Been up in the hills without electricity and running water (we had schnapps though so we managed) for the Swedish midsummer hoo-ha. Very nice it was too. Finally the summer arrived yesterday and today.

Emilìana Torrini is half Icelandic and actually lives there. I think she counts.
Stumbled across these a few years ago third on the bill to Howling Bells and The Joy Formidable (which was a pretty amazing line-up) and bought the album (“Unicorn”) which still gets plays now and then.
Ignore the dodgy name, it’s still worth a listen.
