George is responsible for two of my absolute favourite Beatles songs, Here Comes The Sun and Something, the former being bettered only by Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey. Whilst Blow Away nudges out My Sweet Lord as my favourite solo song. In the car (not driving!), so a bit tricky to post links, so I shall just sing them.
I’m not posting Let it Roll or Behind That Locked Door again, you know where they are.
I’ll just drop these comments in:
I Want to Tell You is the most underrated track on Revolver, If I Needed Someone is the most underrated track on Rubber Soul, Long Long Long is the most underrated track on the White (Ian McDonald’s account of that is great), so the richly deserved acclaim for the two Abbey tracks come close to being too little too late: GH the great songwriter didn’t suddenly emerge in 1969 – he’d been hiding (or rather hidden) in plain sight.
Neil Innes tells of recording in Abbey Road with the Bonzos and being invited by George to hear the latest track they were working on ‘I Want To Tell You’.
Neil was shellshocked as he wandered back to the other studio to finish up ‘My Brother Makes The Noises For The Talkies’
George opened his last live concert at the Albert Hall in 1992 with IWTTY so he obviously rated it highly too
“The Inner Light,” bizarrely the b-side of my fave Fabs’ song, “Lady Madonna.”
Box set pitched in the hundreds?
Nah, just buy an original R5675 for a tenner!
George is by far my favorite Beatle (the only one I have solo records by) and a few classics have already been posted, but this is one of my top five songs ever, Run of the Mill:

Or a used copy of “Past Masters Vol. 2” from the tax-dodgers for around £3.
