Agree the last thing I want is that clown’s latest verbal diarrea splattered all over this place. In my ideal world him and Johnson are locked in an underground room somewhere where we never have to hear from either of them again.
There will be plenty of Trump threads over the next four years. Having all of his antics discussed in one mega thread will break my phone and be tiresome to navigate. He’ll hardly dominate the place.
They still take up space. But let’s talk about music, films, books etc. and leave all the Trump stuff to a million other sites. Some like to get away from that shit here. I believe there is more than one place on the internet to discuss things
He also seems to be floating the idea of at least some part of it being a kind of riviera or resort.
I can’t pretend to understand all the political, religious, and ethnic intricacies of that part of the world, but even I know that millions of people were living in Gaza who would probably like to go home, even if their homes and lives now have to be rebuilt.
As usual, Trump and his minions seem to be completely disregarding what ordinary people might actually want/need in favour of boosting the American industrial complex, property developers, etc. Has it even crossed his mind that Palestinians (and Israeli settlers, IIRC) might not want to see their land – or what they believe is their land – turned into a US-led, Western-style resort?
And sending in the troops? That has always gone well, hasn’t it?
Oh I’m sure the Palestinians will warm to the idea once they get over their children being killed and their homes destroyed. Who doesn’t love a holiday resort?
Trump is, as usual, talking out of his arse.
This could never happen, despite the increasingly-desparate Netanyahu (and presumably some of the more batshit-crazy right-wing Israeli settlers in his government) commenting favourably.
You think there wouldn’t be carnage on an absolutely unprecedented scale if they tried?
Who knows if there is any method to his madness. I wouldn’t be surprised if this a deliberate move to enrage Hamas and encourage them to break the ceasefire. Thus ‘proving’ the point that they cannot be trusted and must be moved out.
How exhausting must it be to work for this loon? Many years ago I worked for a very senior but very unpredictable guy in a big corporation and every day was WTF! It was exciting for a while but soon became intolerable.
I’m finding it very hard to click onto my chosen news site every day. I haven’t watched TV news regularly for years for the same reason – my mental health. I can’t cope with all this shite.
However…I do retain a slither of optimism, even now. Clearly the plan is to be as disruptive as possible as often as possible in the early days to disorientate and scupper opposition, but it is already foundering on the rocks of reality. He seems to making stuff up on the hoof and then rowing back a day or two later – Gaza, tariffs, Ukraine and so on. Musk won’t last long – if anything he is more batshit crazy than Trump, and they will fall out sooner or later.
Rory Stewart makes the point that you can only do most of these things once and you’d better make the most of it when you do, because there’s no second chance.
Trump is doing what he has done in business for decades. He will walk away from a contract or agreement and simply refuse to comply with terms if he doesn’t like them – even if it is in the Consititution, or official treaty/agreement/accord. He then lets the lawyers deal with the backlash – pays up only if he’s forced to – and moves on.
It’s almost like an Aesop fable in real life. One day, he’s going to need assistance from other countries. Or he’s going to need other world leaders to sign up to new agreements/treaties/accords. They are going to refuse, because he can’t be trusted.
Could we maybe put all the Trump stuff in one thread? We don’t need him dominating this place

My counter-suggestion is not reading them.

I agree with not reading it but the sheer intensity of his idiotic behaviour means it’ll never stop Just the title is irritating after a while.
I’m with you here.

For a slightly more nuanced look at the Palestine issue, give the Netflix series
Mo a go.
A black(ish) comedy drama about a Palestinian family trapped in the US’s Kafkaesque asylum system, it’s one of the best things on TV right now
Agreed – it’s brilliant. Nuanced and thoughtful, while being funny at the same time.
Agree with @Dai.
Perhaps we could have a competition to name it.
Couple of suggestions:
The Future is Shite, the Future is Orange…
What Donald’s Done Now?
Another Day, Another Trump Outrage
“What’s he done now?”
Concerning Usual Nefarious Trump

Listening to his announcement
This is global trolling. Someone should have given him a slap or two half a century ago.
Whatever happened to Edith Fnuction? I’d be quite happy if every reference to the Orange Moron was automatically filtered out.

I had a boss like that once. He’d come over from HQ in Germany every two weeks with a new idea. “Stop what you’re doing and start this!”
We’d wave him off to the airport and carry on as before. Only if he gave us the same instruction two fortnights on the trot would we actually start.
Consequently we never got anything finished, and the firm went belly-up in October 2008.
AKA the “NIHS syndrome”

Trump & Musk. Not a marriage made in heaven.
A year, tops. It will be acrimonious in the extreme.
It will a biglier fight than Johnson vs Cummings.
With the loser likely to find themselves on a one-way
ticket to Mars, it will be the bilgiest fight of all time!

I think he’s going to crash the US economy.
