I wanted to use my / our return to this lovely place to pay tribute to Gavin Clark, who died on Monday.
A beautiful singer and writer, who gave so much joy as part of Sunhouse, Clayhill, UNKLE and the soundtracks to Shane Meadows’ films.
This short film was made by Shane for his best mate back in 2009.
If you’ve not heard his gorgeous voice, get hold of last year’s kind-of-best-of “Beautiful Skeletons”.
I’ll miss him very much.

I have Boo Hewerdine to thank for introducing me to Sunhouse through the film 24:7. I’ve followed Gavin ever since through Clayhill and so on. I’ll miss him. He’ll always be famous in our house.
How very sad, though fitting, that this should be the first story that I comment upon on the new blog. I own all of Gavin’s records and hold all of them close to my heart. An artist who I feel was under appreciated by the broader record buying public but one who never fails to elicit enthusiasm from friends who hear it when it is shared with them. What a sad loss. But the music will live on. I’m off to play the Sunhouse album. The best British album you’ve never heard, I always call it. Although many of you lot no doubt have. It’s good to be back home.
