One of the little joys of the past few grim months have been the videos by Toyah and hubby Robert Fripp where they dance, sing and muck about in their kitchen and garden. Here’s a particularly quirky one.

Here’s a dancing one. Beware – Fripp in a tutu.
Thanks for sharing those @Twang – I am not a big fan of either of them but really admire them as a couple. Glad to see they can have some fun in this period of gloom and hats off to them.
Sophie Ellis Bextor too – megastar karaoke while being a Mum. Ten weeks – do they leave the decorations up all the time? I know I couldn’t be arsed taking them down and putting them up again..
Sophie now (or was) in hospital after a bike crash
Ouch! I really feel that. Haven’t seen my family for three months but have been checking in on Sophie on a weekly basis. Get well soon, popstar buddy!
They’re just so cute. It’s no wonder that they have a Rabbit in the household that has no idea that it’s in charge.
❤️
A genuinely lovely couple.
Good work, Twang. These two really deserve a round of applause.
In their idiosyncratic , wonderfully, entertaining way they have been keeping many, many people in good spirits during these dark times.
Thanks for the tip about Sophie Ellis Bextor, Sewer. Looks promising.
(Mercifully, she seems to be out of hospital now.)
If I were the Queen I would be summoning Olive and Mabel plus Andrew, Soph and Bob and Toyah to the palace for a special award
Don’t like to be the miserable one (again), but I find them to be smug, rich, unfunny, annoying and, in the case of Toyah, doing anything to be in the public eye again. She probably threatens Fripp with all sorts of dreadful things to get him involved, like playing him her old LPs…
Having a bad day @dai? Listen to Abba. 😂
Would rather do that than listen to Toyah or KC (of course).
re the public eye comment, Toyah rolls round to the Fleece in Bristol every eighteen months or so for a gig, which I presume is part of a larger tour. Looking at their house in these films, I can’t believe she is playing a string of 300-400 capacity venues because she needs the money. So why does she do it? A need for attention? Because she enjoys it? A little from column A and a little from column B?
Genuine question. How can being wealthy be serious grounds for disguntlement?
Just jealous because I am not rich, you are right was going to delete my comment but too late it seems.
There’s no harm in the occasional spleen vent Dai, believe me 😉
Yeah, and I was rich and my Toyah fan ex took all my money.
* that may not be completely true
Its a Mystery 🤭
don’t you mean “it’s a MIzztery”?
Ith a mythtery
surely?
(thurely?)
Becoming a traditional part of Sunday now- another installment from the Mad Couple.
Always seemed a trifle weird the Toyah and Robert got together in the first place – never seemed like the people who would’ve been in the same places at the same time. But 34 years on, they’re still going – and good on ’em.
Seen Toyah live a couple of times – she’s got a potty mouth, but is a genuinely nice person.
Fripp doesn’t seem as distant or intense as all the documentaries paint him to be.
Apparently lived mostly apart for first 19 years, there’s the solution for a long marriage!
They’re genuinely devoted to each other, and in interviews he’s said how lucky he is to be married to her. A very kind but also astute woman, which must be a bonus in their industry. They’re a team.
They were on Mr and Mrs.
Interesting introduction by Phillip Schofield there, aimed squarely at civilians – “Toyah Wilcox …and her husband Robert (who is actually a far more significant musician with a body of widely respected and critically admired music, unlike her, but we know full well that you pleb scum have never even heard of him, whereas you probably bought “Its a Mystery” and can remember the chorus at least, so fuck him…”
Delightful. I think Mr Fripp’s natural lack of rock star posturing is the real deal cool.
I saw King Crimson a year or two ago here. A tremendous show. Prog with a capital P. They take themselves very seriously and the audience are mostly goateed-stroking guys. Women were conspicuous by their absence.
So this cracked me up.
But, let’s have no illusions about Yer Tube. It is a bitterly competitive environment. Right now there are thousands of cute, disgruntled, grumpy kittens who are well angry about all the hits that Olive and Mabel are getting.
DOGS!! Don’t they know their place?
good to hear the South East Dorset tones of a Wimborne lad. He´s poshed up “dance” a bit mind
I see Bob’s learned my old trick of wiring an electric guitar into my dad’s transistor radio to use it as an amplifier. Sounds exactly as I remember it. Hope his dad’s radio survived…
Lucky you! I have their Toronto live cd set and it is absolutely magnificent. The integrity of Fripp/King Crimson is without peer.
I saw them last year and wrote a review here. They were absolutely stonking.
They are something else. Such complexity and intensity. And integrity as you so rightly say Rob.
And to go from that to Bob and Toyah is like leaving King Lear and watching the Tomliboos In the Night Garden.
Good luck to ’em I suppose.. but I have always taken against Toyah Wilcox for some reason. The Violet Elizabeth Bott of New Wave.

Middle class public school “punk”, but same goes for Joe Strummer I suppose. I find no redeeming qualities in her music at all though.
I don’t know anything about it TBH.
Chart positions slightly different though.
1981
Toyah – 4 / 8 / 4 / 14
the clash – 56 / 34 / 47
Don’t think the director of TOTP would have been losing too much sleep on the clash not appearing on the show.
That’s pretty selective. She wins on top 10s though, of course The Clash singles would have gone higher if they had indeed appeared on TOTP. Am sure Toyah was “in reception”
I watched a coupe of those videos a while back and they made my teeth itch.
However, I saw Willfripp in the bar of the Birmingham Symphony Hall during the interval of a Steven Wilson gig a couple of years ago and can confirm that they are the world’s tiniest celebrity couple.
Did I miss Toyah playing a time Lord?
If you can’t be eccentric when you are a well off musician, what is the point?
Like this one – and a great song too….
I’ll have no naysaying of the Toyah person, she’s great.
I treasure my pristine red vinyl copy of “Sheep Farming In Barnet”, though I will allow that I find it difficult to endure the whole of the “Prostitute” album from start to finish.
Whatever else you might mutter about, there’s no denying her willingness to go out there and play and sing about what she knows and believes. More recently there have been many far less articulate artists – particularly female ones – who have been made trendy figureheads of angst for much less effective and satisfying attempts at expressing similar observations and pains.
Well said VV.
Sheep Farming in Barnet! What was the name of that person who had a whole load of correspondence with the NME (I think) about this?
Someone Connelly…?
