A climber tries to scale a very tricky, near vertical mountain without any ropes etc.
Amazingly this Oscar winner (for best doc a few weeks ago) is on TV tonight. As far as I’m aware it was still in cinemas only last week. Reviews suggests it’s the tensest, most terrifying thing you’ll ever see as its 90 minutes of real life live or die endangerment. One misplaced foot or hand hold and he’s dead.
It’s on National Geographic at 8pm.

Sounds brilliant. Sky only though I guess. Boo!
Virgin and at least one other provider have National Geographic. I don’t think it’s on BT.
Freeview/Netflix here. I remember back in the 70s they used to have film of live climbing quite a bit – Joe Brown on the Old Man of Hoy or whatever.
Cor! Were The Bruvvers waiting for him at the top?
“I’m Edmund ‘Illary, I Am….” etc etc
Arf!
The Dawn Wall is also brilliant.
Great shout, thanks LS
I can confirm it is on BT too.
Got it video’d (or whatever the term is these days) from NG.
Just looking at El Capitan made me go a bit squiffy when I was there. People camp out on the face, you know. It’s mind blowing. I literally cannot comprehend how this chap goes about his work.
The bit where he calmly climbs past a couple of people who have just woken up having spent the night halfway up is quite surreal and rather amusing.
It’s a great film.
