Prynhawn da.
Just popping in to offer up a pair of Dali floorstanders free to anyone who would care to call upon me at my bijou council penthouse here in The Tropical Socialist Paradise of Wales. It’ll be a two man job. They are chunky boys.
This is genuine offer prompted due to my installing a new pair of lughole ticklers.
A little information for those who may be interested and require it… they are two way bass reflex speakers with a front bass port, 90.0 dB sensitivity with a nominal impedance of 6 ohms. Dimensions are in inches (H x W x D) 38.5 x 8.1 x 12.3. Frequency range dB (Hz) 40 – 26.500. PM me if blah blah blah.
Hope everyone is fine and dandy.
Over and out.

Sadly no room at Twang Towers but nice to see you hereabouts Pencil.
Sadly no room here at Foxy Towers, where even the CD cases have been shod in pursuit of cubic capacity.
Great offer to make anyway!
If I didn’t have a pair of original Mission 700s in the loft awaiting re-foaming, I’d consider making room in the office by ditching the mini-monitors I use, but even then I reckon I’d be bashing my elbows on those lovely Dali beasts.
Keep on brushing!
Hallooo, old pal, but not something Sue would approve of(!!). Good to see you tippy toing back into this lair of iniquity. How’s them ‘ips?
Fu*kin’ buggered.
I’ve logged in via my phone to post this as I am unable to do so via my home network. For some reason when I try and log into the site I get an error message informing me to contact the administrator because the access from my IP address has been blocked for security reasons.
I know I’m about as popular as a fart in a spacesuit hereabouts but this nonsense is downright hostile. 😉
I cannot be arsed with the palaver of mucking about trying to get signed in on my phone so I guess this visit is going to be far briefer than I had anticipated.
Happy trails folks. Hwyl fawr.
Haia Mr P. I would fear for my very existance should I position a pair of speakers the size of teenagers anywhere in the house. Sadly.
Hope you’re keeping well.
Those speakers look to be absolutely fab. Sadly a bit far away for me and I’ve not got the space anyway.
Hope you get your hips sorted out soon.
That blog signing-in problem’s a bit of a bugger. Didn’t someone else here have the same hassle recently? Maybe there’s a simple solution.
Stay well and keep squeezing that pencil.
Pob lwc, ffrind
Lovely to see the Pencil byline.
Edges Ebb and Flow still delights at Beezer Towers.
How wonderful to see you making an appearance here, Pencil, It’s always a pleasure to read about what you’ve been listening to, reading and watching.
I do hope you find a new, loving home for your Dali floorstanders. I had to google to get some idea what they might look like. I expected surrealism.
I googled “chunky boys” too just for the hell of it and found a knitting site!
You take care of yourself!
That lad Tom Daley gets everywhere these days!
Proper in the swim with that one.
You need to splash out on a better joke book, P, TD is a diver
Would love to take those beauties off your hands, but I’m stuck in Ireland so no go
I thought it would bellyflop but I thought I’d just chuck it out there just in case it might float.
Oh, it was a definite floater and no mistake, P
Got any pictures of Dali floorstanders, guv? Send ’em by WhatsApp maybe?
*rubs thighs in anticipation*
Blimey I’m able to log in. Colour me surprised.
Sorry no photos. Moving them and installing my new chunky boys has proper buggered my hip up so I’m in recovery mode in the hope that I’ll be able to limp to the local supermarket in a couple of days. Consequently I’m not moving the buggers again right at this moment! I don’t do WhatsApp either or any of the unsocials anymore including The Dafterwordles really. I just thought someone amongst youse lot might appreciate a pair of free speakers which is the only reason I posted.
I can tell you that they are almost ten years old so well broken in and are in pristine condition. Nice speakers but I fancied a change. Upgradeitis is a monkey on my back.
These are them only not because these belong to somebody else but they look remarkable like mine. Who da thunk it.
They are very splendid. But to my low-tech eyes they look like something out of Dr Who. I bet the Tardis has a sound system to die for.
Love some of the YT comments too.
“Słuchałes może atoll in100se z zensor 7? Mam te kolumny i napędzam je onkyo a9050, ale bez rewelacji. Szukam czegoś innego. Może jakieś propozycje?”
The world of Dali is an impressively international one. Bet you get some comments in Welsh too!
There’s a playlist challenge for you. What is playing in the Tardis?
Uprising by Muse?
Some girls by Rachel Steven’s?
Doctoring the Tardis?
Thanks a lot @paulwright.
It was new to me but that Rachel Stevens track is a wonderful floorfiller.
and Muse’s use of the Who theme tune is rather impressive too.
Sadly I can’t accommodate another pair of floorstanders, or I’d have bitten your arm off.
Lovely to see you back, though, P. Don’t be a stranger.
After a successful upgrade with Chord Co interconnect between pre- and power-amp, I recently tried the same between phono stage and pre-amp. Less of an improvement, but all done via eBay at ~40% of new price.
So… what did you get to replace the Dalis?
I use Chord Co cables throughout except for my speaker cables which are 9 AWG OFC. Massive overkill I know but I got a good deal on them and that inevitably led me to replacing the Dali’s with a pair of Wharfdale Linton 85th anniversary and their matching stands. They are blooming lovely, proper bit of walnut veneered nostalgia. I’m still breaking them in but straight out of the boxes they sounded glorious and they will slowly improve over the coming weeks and months.
Ooh, lovely. Ex-Heybrook man Peter Comeau designed them. He’s also a lovely chap.
He did indeed. They are lovely, full of that old British speaker easygoing warmth but with a bang up to date twist. I couldn’t be happier with them.
There’s nowt wrong with a bit of British warmth, says the man with the Linn deck, Naim amp and BBC-based PMC speakers, who lives in about 1975…
Yer darn tootin’. I think I can feel an evening devoted to Kate Bush hoving into view.
Peter Comeau is the guest on the latest Darko Audio podcast. What a chap!

Excellent. I shall give that a listen through my Lintons which would seem apt. I have around fifty hours on them now and they are starting to relax and open out. I’m very happy with them.
Wonderful to see a Pencil thread!
My infrequent postings are carefully timed and hand-crafted to act as a check and balance to the interesting ramblings offered up by the hip young incumbents of the “in crowd”.
I thought we were the “out crowd”?
With your hip and my knees and ankles we’re definitely not the “shake it all about” crowd.
It’s certainly something 2b celebrated.
Well done, Fred. I made a weird kind of simultaneous laugh and groan noise.
Decidedly Sketchy types.
Still happy with my monitor audio floor standers but just wanted to say that it’s always great to see something from you @pencilsqueezer
🙏
Hola amigo! How bona to vada your dolly old eek again!!
Sorry to say I don’t have space for them – all best wishes for finding a good home for them
Noswaith dda my old friend. I shall probably fade away again shortly. ✌️
