We like Frazey here, don’t we, and it’s been a while. Thankfully ‘U kin B the Sun’, her belated follow-up to 2015’s ‘Indian Ocean’ is out now, if a UK release date now put back from 24/3 to 21/4/20. Boo, but it sounds good on spotty

Most american artists who come over to Europe don’t play Sweden at all. Or if they do, they play one gig, either in Stockholm or in Gothenburg.
When she comes over to Europe in May, Frazey Ford is playing SEVEN concerts in Sweden. Goodness knows why. A couple of the places she’s booked into are real one-horse towns. She’ll probably want to ask her management why she’s playing Tranås (pop. 14,000) and Hyltebruk (pop. 4,000).

She’s taking the scenic route to Stockholm and those first two gigs are just warm ups.
I’m enjoying it a lot, and was playing it on the walk to work this morning. At first it comes across as a bit short on tunes, but they’re emerging from the haze now. It’s certainly not as immediate as Indian Ocean, and there is nothing as hooky as the guitar licks and brass stabs of Done, but I’m more than happy to wait for it to grow on me and I’ll be at the Union Chapel gig when she’s in the UK.

Indian Ocean is absolutely one of my favourite albums of this century so I have been looking forward to this, whilst also apprehensive that she simply wont be able to repeat the trick. Have only listened once so far, so jury still out, but from that one listen Gatz’s description sounds spot on.
