One of his worst. For Rodders, you really don’t need any studio album after Smiler (and that’s a bit ropey at times).
Have an up from me @bricameron. I adore Sir Rod, in pretty much all of his guises and this is a favourite from my much younger years.
I applaud how he’s extended his career by going with the flow. I think he’s played to his strengths and doesn’t seem to take himself too seriously. Ofcourse, I’m pretty sure those that seem not to, infact take their careers very seriously indeed. ❤️

Was just playing Suzanne Vega’s ‘Left of Center’ this morning for possibly the thousandth time and wondering at Joe Jackson’s magnificent piano playing.
Randon fact: once had a long train journey sat next to one of his teachers at the Royal Academy of Music, who described how fantastically talented he was/is.
I remember first hearing “Fools in love” and marvelling at what a fantastic song/performance /record it is. Still gets me to this day.
He’s amazing, although he seems to disown his earlier stuff.
Yes he’s a bit odd. He moved from New York to Munich simply because they banned smoking in bars. Then they banned it in Germany too. 😂
I read that Mike Oldfield lives in Jamaica for that very reason too. God help us if there’s a war.
Have just finished reading Joe Jackson’s autobiography “A Cure For Gravity”, which I bought after a recommendation long ago on the old Word site.
The book covers just his childhood, adolescence in Portsmouth, and the early years of playing in struggling pub bands, etc. It ends just as Joe signs his first record contract. Enjoyed it. Good book. Made me want to dig out all my old Joe Jackson records again.
