I bow to no one in my love for The Mac. From Greeny’s Looking For Somebody (which I used to teach myself to play drums to) to Say You Will, I have everything, and love it all.
However, it’s way past time that Danny Kirwan got the credit he more than deserves.
I would contest that he saved the band. When Peter, and then Jeremy left, it was Danny that carried the torch, flew the kite, fanned the flame. Tell me this isn’t the dogs.

Nice one…I’m probably like others in that I know the Peter Green era and Rumours era but not the ones in between…also have liking for PG comeback album In the Skies…

Always loved this, “Jigsaw Puzzle Blues”, the flipside of “Albatross” – Danny Kirwan wrote it.

And speaking of Say You Will, here’s a live version of one of my favourite Stevie Nicks songs, Running Through The Garden, which was originally a weedy synth-backed outtake from the Rock A Little era. Given the Mac treatment it becomes a powerful driving rock song with some impeccable guitar playing from Lindsey Buckingham. The sound and video quality isn’t great on this bit of mobile footage, but put the headphones on and crank it up loud….

And just for you @niallb, in case you haven’t already heard it. Shame it’s not the full band, but seems as if everyone except Stevie Nicks is present and correct.

I absolutely adore Rumours, Tusk and Live and always give any new Mac band or solo album (or EP) a listen in the hope that some of that magic might be found. But with just one exception (Nicks’ Bella Donna) it never is.

FWIIW, I much prefer the later, poptastic FM to the early stuff (although I love Oh well).
From Tango in the night (my favourite FM album) – Seven wonders.

hello chaps just popped in after a year or so away – what’s happening ?
Anyway saw this thread and always had a soft spot for Danny Kirwan and the ‘lost’ Mac years. I think Future Games was the original template for the Steve Nicks era and that whole west coast soft rock sound. His solo albums are variable but there are many gems including this one

Who was the guy who was always doing the schlocky rock’n’roll numbers during the Peter Green era? was it Kirwan or Spencer?
Bartleby says
Schlocky?! Jeremy Spencer did a lot of Elmore James covers in the set.
