Fiio M11s.

Hi folks.
H.Ps post has nudged me into proceeding with something I’ve been meaning to do for a while. I have a Fiio M11s that I no longer use and it needs a new home. It’s in perfect working order and in pristine condition. Sadly I cannot find the box but apart from that it’s good to go. If anyone would like this gratis then PM me. First come first served.
I’ve found an old Sony box I can utilise to post it in and I can throw in a charging cable. Full operating instructions are available online, pdf etc.

          • For hardware, I agree. They can’t write user interface code though: I’ve had a few Fiios and their native apps have all sucked like oversize vacuum cleaners.

            I eventually gave up and got me a lovely tiny little Sony Walkman. The DAC is probably useless but no-one can honestly tell the difference really so it’s all good.

            • I never really made use of their apps. This is an Android based DAP. I just downloaded whatever I needed from the Play Store. As I was mostly using it to listen to downloaded files from Tidal. It worked flawlessly. The only reason I wanted to find it a new home is because I use my phone now to stream Qobuz via a Chord Mojo 2 when I’m out and about and feel like listening to some music. I’ve got unlimited data on my phone and it’s more convenient to carry fewer devices.

              • Download Musicolet (free, no ads, works offline, utterly bwilliant) to your phone and keep your record collection on an SD card like a boss. Why? Because it’s as close as you can get to collecting/owning albums like we used to. I’ve managed to replicate – and increase – my own long-gone vinyl collection, sourcing authentic original sleeve art (because it interests me) and having the best available versions. And all without “subscribing” or “streaming” (or actually paying for) a damn thing. I can do this with a clear conscience because just after spending all my disposable income on albums when they were first released I killed the music business by home taping.

                • Diolch, unfortunately I don’t use a laptop or a desktop anymore just my phone and a tablet so I have no way of loading files onto an SD card so I stream which works fine and as I use Qobuz at home as well as when I’m mobile I get my money’s worth out of it. I do use USB Audio Player on my phone though which bypasses Android’s re-sampling to 48k and gives me the stream at the correct sample rate.
                  I still collect CDs. Mostly classical and jazz. I like clutter. Minimalist homes are the domains of serial killers.

                  • Clutter just happens on its own and trying to fight it goes against nature. It’s followed me everywhere, like a weather system. The Thais have long accepted clutter as an integral constant. Nothing is thrown away, just shunted to one side. This includes living relatives – put gran over there, and this bowl in her lap. Put a dog in the bowl, or that broken clock radio. You only have to look at their alphabet – everything shunted together, bits dropped on top, shoved underneath, to understand their thinking.

              • When they went to an Android OS I thought this is my big chance, and put MediaMonkey on there, which worked fine.

                I just rmembered the real reason I binned it off: I dropped it and you cannot replace their glass screens.

                That and the corners were all pointy and sharp and fucked with yer pockets, which to my mind defeats the entire… [rambles on at length]
