thanks very much, part 2 is coming next week too
That’s a playlist from my era. I love ‘Build A Fire’* and some other of those songs, as is the phrase, live rent-free in my head. Definitely something to savour. Thank you
*Though sadly, the mash up I did of it with Wandering Star was predictably, a failure.
aww I don’t think so, I quite enjoyed that!
Thank you! I always enjoy the random results that Rave DJ throws up, no matter how discordant, but others rarely join in my enthusiasm. On rewatching, that is probably one of the more successful experiments.
I gave it a listen on my commute into work this morning. Interesting sounds
*spoiler alert*
Grim Up North and Bill & Ted Grim Reaper juxtaposition was a nice touch, as was a fuller Ricky Lee Jones interview opener to Little Fluffy Clouds (was that you, or was it one of the unlimited number of remixes Patterson made?). The blend from there to Build A Fire was superb – really lovely.
I was fraught with the dotting of ‘Bird’ with Silence of the Lambs quotes – I will do my best to forget that association of one of my favourite bands with that grimy film! But all in all a very enjoyable reminder of the days of my youth – nicely done. I may dig out my own highlights from that year later.
Some cracking stuff there @gardener
I’d like to bore everyone again with my Fall Shiftwork story.
Shift work is my entry point into the wonderful and frightening world of the Fall. It’s their poppy phase and I realise it makes me out to not be a proper fan. At some stage I came across the Fall Net and a thread asking about your best live memories. My first post about the Shiftwork tour got the date wrong by about a year. I was swiftly shot down/advised of my error and I’ve not been back since.
Some of my best nights out have been watching the Fall.
No shame in Shift-Work as an entry into TWFW, I too was a late starter to them as 1988’s Kurious Oranj was my way in and I also have fond memories of seeing the band live around the early 90’s too. For my birthday last year I was given the book by Dave Simpson called The Fallen which is so good I’ve now read it twice. It’s so well written, funny and informative and definitely one of the best books I’ve read on the band.
