If the terms “double gameweek” “differential” and “Rate My Team” mean little to you then please leave now. However Paul the psychic Octopus, Howson is now, Clinical diabetes and AC/FC this thread is for you.
I’m not sure who created the Afterword fantasy premier league but I’d like to thank you now. It has given me hours of pleasure over the last couple of seasons and I have spent far more time than can be considered healthy contemplating which overpaid Prima Donna will accrue more points during the next game week. In fact writing this post sees me taking a break from doing just that.
There’s no real point to this thread other than to wish all my fellow managers well during the remainder of the season. I’m currently in the process of a wildcard which had the team set-up on Sunday evening. Unfortunately I’ve changed it three times since then and can’t go back….buyers remorse is setting in.
FWIW “Howson is now” wins my vote for best teamname and my “Lovren Happiness” was a nod to Al Green rather than Liverpool. Now how about “Me and Couhtinio down by the schoolyard” for next season?
Good stuff. Unfortunately I missed the Fantasy Footie afterword league join option. Probably not fair joining this late but do enjoy a spot of FFL!
How you getting on by the way? Rank wise.
I spend no more than 5 minutes with transfers and team selection. This is probably mirrored in my league placing. Not doing too bad in the head to head league though.
I steadily climbed the table, I used my Wildcard option far, far too early. I’m stuck in a Europa League Place. I’m hoping the season run-in will lift me into a Champions League Place at least. Eden Hazard and Harry Kane have been godsends, aided by Alexis Sanchez. The gamble with “Super” Mario less so.
Liquid Football? Maybe….
@NE1 I have no idea what you say
I’m afraid I missed the Afterword league sign-up too, but am ranked 52,347th overall with 1,823 points. Approximately where would I be in the league?
You would be 3rd
10 points behind Paul Psychic Octopus, but a full 106 behind Leader Lovren Happiness
I’ve spent the season bouncing around the lower reaches of the table (currently languishing in 16th).
I spend ages of careful thought with team selection and transfers, but to no avail.
I bought Southampton defenders the week before they start shipping goals, I bought Pelle, and he failed to score since January, I bought Costa and he got injured. Plain bad luck or the kiss of death.
Still Henderson and Jagielka were well worth keeping in the team.
Now, if I can just manage 400+ points in the next fortnight, I might be in with a chance.
Oh, and I am git responsible for everyone wasting their time tinkering with their team (this is not a euphemism).
The winner will receive this virtual trophy:

I reckon I must hold the record for the most time spent procrastinating over my transfers for the lowest points ammassed. I don’t think I made one good decision all season.
I won the Fantasy League monthly prize a few years ago though. It was for August too, so I had the pleasure of sitting top of a league of over 2,500,000 players for a week or two. I won an iPad and all sorts. I think my success was all based on reading a pre-season summary of Michu’s performances for Swansea, picking him up before everybody else cottoned on.
And the winner is …
Champions – Lovren Happiness (2,267)
2nd – HowsonisNow (2,135)
3rd – Paul Psychic Octopus (2,134)
4th – Barnstoneworth Utd (1,987)
5th – Clinical Diabetes (1,968)
Me – 15th out of 26 (Mid-table obscurity)
Lovren Happiness and HowsonisNow also shared the Head To Head top 2 (although in reverse order).
Me? 20th out of 22 (I’m quite sh*t at this aren’t I).
Couple of months off and then it all starts again – Gameweek 1 is 16 Aug- entries (probably) from mid July(ish).
I realise those that actually “care” about this probably already know the outcome, but I’m going to post it anyway
