No sooner has one season finished (OK, it finished late for some reason), a new one begins.
So, if you want to join the 20 Afterworders already signed up to get their mitts on this desirable (virtual) trophy.

I played Fantasy Footie from the start – for two heady weeks I was No2 in the Torygraph League (only place you could play back then?) until young Frank Lampard at West Ham got himself injured.
I gave it all up years ago when it all became too “professional”, changing your players every night according to who was playing who, etc. Is it still the same? I suggested to some mates we play with a strictly limited squad and were only allowed to bring in fresh players when injuries occurred but that soon fizzled out. Shame cos I really liked it back then.

It can get a little involved. Staring at the screen trying to decide which cheap midfielder will get the most points in a given week, who should be captain (for double points), planning transfers 3 weeks ahead based on upcoming fixtures, blah blah blah.
There are websites devoted to this with very active coversations/debates.
Me? I’m still trying to lever in Salah, Aubamayang and De Bruyne, and not have a sh*t team.

I’m in. Going to be playing anyway so might as well have 2 more leagues to win*!
Maybe this year I can get off to a good start and make better captain choices.
And not leave so many points on the bench.
And get loads of points from differential players while trying to avoid the obvious template picks.
And maybe, just maybe, pick the right one when there are 2 good options to choose from.
And, and…. why do we bother?
🙂
*Lose.

Will you be using a Set and Forget Goalkeeper, or rotating 2 x 4.5s for Home fixtures?
My stance: pick the team and hope for the best.

Just updated the squad a few minutes ago 🙂
Now set and forget for the keeper, 3 defenders, 3 mids and front 3. Just have to decide which 4th mid to play each week.
Only downside is no Salah and no easy route to get City/Utd players in after their first week blank.
Can always do an early wild card though, wouldn’t be the first time!
(I’m Mister X on FPL, a hangover from a fondness for the Mister X comics and a few years ago being sick of websites demanding endless amounts of personal information they couldn’t possibly need)

I’m in again. Had a shocker last year – particularly in the head-to-head league, where I sat all season in the bottom two.

I joined a work league about ten years ago and was sick of it by October due to a colleague’s apparent need to talk about it every single week.
Mind you, I did start doing it again a few seasons later and won our little league both times. It’s too much effort these days though.

I’m in.

All set for another season of my cheap strikers hitting the post when clear through, and my superstar £12.5 million midfielder snapping his ACL before Christmas. For me, it’s all about the glory of the fight to finish a plucky and respectable twenty-sixth rather than the utter humiliation of twenty seventh or even lower.
Black Celebration says
It’s interesting to see that once we get to October, the 3pm Saturday traditional time for football is back across all the leagues.
A good move, I think. Unless it’s a tournament, football spread out over the week is vulgar.

I’ve done this for a few years, so will hook up. It’s like getting into Europe!
I don’t find it that onerous, but I am in a league run by a friend which involves having a squad of 20, one from each team, with rules around seeded teams in the positions and number of appearances per season and transfer windows and wildcards and 2 golden wildcards and you have to pick your team and send it in each game week….jeez, it’s a bloody nightmare!
Kid Dynamite says
IN. Haven’t done it for a while, which will no doubt be reflected in my performance

Are we going again? I can’t find any valid codes for the leagues.
Rigid Digit says
Hang about, I’ll have a look.
The Fantasy Premier League site has had an overhaul, and some things have gone a bit odd.
Rigid Digit says
The Afterword League renewed – if you’ve played before you should be auto added. If you joining for the first time, code is 16qbhg
New Head to Head League created. Code is: 8mpqq4

@Rigid-Digit – thanks, I finally got myself sorted. The links you sent cracked it – up to that point it claimed not to know me and on password re-set 3 I was losing the will to live. I mean, is there a high risk of having your account hacked and your transfers dibbled with?
