Hurts are a band that I have a vague recollection of but not sure I ever listened to anything by them. Saw a clip of them over the weekend on the socials performing a live version of Illuminated. Properly impressed and don’t recall seeing anything about them. It’s like the best Eurovision song ever – complete with a bit of operatic backing vocals.

Me too. They pop up in my social media occasionally and I think “Oh, Hurts are still going”, but I never get round to playing the album again. It’s about time I did.
I recall them having some nice tunes, especially when a string section was in the background, but overall being a bit … meh. Still, somebody must keep buying their albums, so fair play to them.
Having listend to a bit of them over the weekend, their good songs are really very good. It is so nicely produced as well which sort of makes the other songs sound a bit samey initially. They seem well worth a watch live as well.
