It’s particularly annoying bearing in mind that he’s in his late 70’s and is in poor general health with a number of long term illnesses i.e. exactly the people who really do need to be vaccinated.
Ultimately whether you are vaccinated or not is your own choice although hopefully you make that choice having weighed up the risks not just to you but to others from not having it.
That’s fair enough, but to come out and actively argue against vaccination in public is pretty reprehensible.

Are you suggesting Clapton is singing this in some kind of persona? Otherwise not sure how the Sympathy for the Devil comparison works at all.
It’s clearly a “protest” song intended to be taken literally. But it’s also by an irrelevant old fuck who’s clearly been a nasty bit of work since dot and hasn’t released a worthwhile record a) ever or b) in half the population’s lifetime (delete according to taste). I doubt many people under 30 have even heard of him, have they? So it’s probably not worth getting aerated about. Certainly, when he posted it on Twitter yesterday the only replies were taking the piss out of him.

I think perhaps you mean “Have you all switched on the irony filter?”. With the irony filter switched off, irony would seep through, no matter how weak. Whereas with the irony filter switched on, if it’s in good working order, irony would be successfully filtered out and all you’d be left with is seriosity.

I am with @fatima-xberg on this. Havent heard the song and feel no need to hear but not really interested in his views or those of any other anti vacciner. My family and those I care about have thankfully all taken the sensible route – if he chooses not to it is his choice but those who live with him might want to make their own choice based on the risk they feel he poses to them.
But he has had two vaccinations of the AZ and had adverse reactions.
Which begs the question will he take a booster shot if offered?
I had an adverse reaction to my first shot of the AZ vaccine. Didn’t make me write and record a ludicrous piece of whingeing nonsense (or stop me setting the second shot, which in my case caused no problems).

I’ve never cared much for Clapton’s music, but I really like his playing on Roger Waters’ The Pros & Cons Of Hitchhiking.
I look like a cross between Uncle Monty and Ned Flanders, so I am glad I appeal to you, and I hope you are not playing some cruel “mauve” trick on my feelings. You make the right point. Clapton is also OK as Steve Winwood’s guitarist when Winwood is not showing his own sublime skill on the axe.

If it were just a case of “He didn’t get vaccinated. He died. His bad” then that would just about acceptable (let’s forget about the cost of treating the fucker in hospital, filling up a bed etc etc).
But, like getting into a car blind drunk and then killing somebody, refusing the vaccine could lead to an innocent’s death. And that innocent is more than likely to be old or infirm

It’s just Clapton doing what he does best. Wallowing in self-pity.
He’s made his views clear enough so the song can clearly be read as protesting against the Covid regulations etc and the video with it undoubtedly points in that direction – but it is worth noting that there is absolutely nothing explicitly anti-Vax or anti-lockdown in the song lyrics themselves. it could equally be read as a (not very good) song about a relationship gone bad.
