We had a copy of that ‘Gruts’ EP at home when I grew up, so the cover photo is deeply imprinted on me. The picture always perplexed me, but I never played the EP til I was in my teens. I found IC’s flat delivery almost disturbing initially , but once I got on his wavelength he slayed me & i’ve been a fan ever since.
I’m not surprised he’s not a household name though, he’s not exactly Peter Kay is he?
Splendid stuff – a track from Gruts For Tea Again featured on one of my earlier CD Swap discs, to mixed reactions.
Great – ‘Bugs’ is a favorite of mine.
This makes me happy…. I’ll punch the man who says I’m not.
A personal favourite.
It’s like re-living my youth….
Is it just me? I’m afraid I’ve never got Ivor Cutler. I really cannot understand what people see in his stuff.
It is you, but it’s not JUST you. That’s why he’s never been mainstream.
