Just noticed that details of Eels’ DreamWorks vinyl boxset have gone up on the band’s website. That’s my birthday pressie sorted, then. Mr Drakeygirl is pleased with the lack of effort needed on his part (I’ve just ordered it!)

Despite having a recent copy of ‘Freak’ and an original Souljacker this is a no brainer
Will be swap shopping my copy of Freak at some point
I’ve also got a newish Beautiful Freak on vinyl, so if any Afterworder wants to swap me an LP for it (old or new), let me know! Or I could always drop it off on the swap table if we have a London Mingle. Can we have a Mingle? We’ve not had one for ages…
It also looks to be relatively modestly priced, at least compared to some of the insanities kicking around at the moment.
Considering I spent about the same on the Blinking Lights vinyl box it’s great value *shakes fist @drakeygirl.
Agreed – tempted
Don’t know their work well but this is an all time favourite.
Susan’s House
I only posses a couple of CDs by Eels, time to start my vinyl collection?
It’s a good place to start, @baron-harkonnen.
@fin59, you could do a lot worse than getting yourself the Meet The Eels (Essential Eels) compilation from a few years back.
I love early Eels (most of their best albums are this set), but there are also gems on later LPs.
There’s a menace to their earlier pop stuff:
and Mark Everett has got the whole lovelorn melancholy thing sewn up:
The RAH LIve album from last year is also a good primer – well recorded and focusses on the tuneful maudlin ones as opposed to shouty blues
It’s a shame the Electro Shock Blues Show live album won’t be available separately – that’s the one I’d want. I’m quite happy with the others on CD!
