Absolutely gutted, shocked, and very very saddened by this; terribly terribly young at 65.
What a lovely man, a lovely voice, a lovely soul.
Thanks for everything Eddie; you will be sorely, sorely missed.

Yeah, I put something in the obituaries thread. Very sad
Ah, sorry – didn’t know about that thread, and can’t for the life of me find your post. Could you put a link to it here?
At the bottom:
No worries, he deserved his own thread anyway
2005, Millennium Stadium: ‘Kevin Morgan, to put the seal on the win… to put the cream on the Grand Slam Cake!’
2008, Twickenham: ‘England, what are you doing? And Wales, what have you done?’
The soundtrack to a Welsh Golden age. Very sad about this one, he should have had far longer.
I saw him a couple of times in the last year, almost bumping into him as I came out of a book shop in Crickhowell and six months or so ago he was having Sunday lunch with Ken Owens and their wives in a pub near Abergavenny and we were on the next table.
Had a quick chat at the bar getting drinks, he seemed a lovely bloke and from what those that knew him have said since his untimely passing, he really was. And what a voice!
RIP Eddie
Saddened to read about this. Brought a real warmth to his cemmentaries.
He was more than a rugby player and a commentator. He was a poet.
Shoking and very sad. There was something wonderfully old school about his commentary and unashamedly romantic voice and scripts – a worthy successor to the likes of Bryon Butler, Peter Jones and Cliff Morgan.
