Getting pretty universal rave reviews everywhere he plays.
I finally cracked last Saturday and bought a ticket for Dublin two weeks next Mon.
Glad I waited as I ended up getting a front and centre seat in Row 4. Cost E126 but given that it’s hard to see him coming back to Europe again, seems to be worth every penny
I`ve seen His Bobness many times but I have no interest in seeing him on this tour. I`ve heard several of his shows from this tour and given his age I think he`s putting on some fine performances but they`re not for me.
I do love his `Time Out Of Mind` and the post TOOM albums especially `Tempest` & `Rough & Rowdy Ways` and his style certainly suits this material which is pretty obvious. I really don`t like his reinterpretation of his 60`s/70` material plus £100+ for a ticket, no chance.
I think he was in Hull this week. I wonder if he did the Larkin tour? I didn’t see him in Heron Foods, that’s all I know.
He’s in Hull next Thursday (27th).
Oh right. I’ll get some chocolate hobnobs in.
I am going to 5 shows starting tonight (at the cost of several limbs I might add).
I have listened to about 60 RARW Tour recordings. They are all good but some are just spectacular. The arrangements and phrasing change night by night.
I will report back from row Q of the Palladium tomorrow. I am very excited.
Attaboy Artery
Any good recommendations from the live shows or where I might find them? PM me if you’d rather…
Go to Expecting Rain discussions forum. There’s a section called Rare Recordings where there are loads. I seem to remember you have to register to access the Rare Recordings. It’s easy to get in though.
Alternatively, PM me your address and I’ll put the best shows on a memory stick and post it to you. Gratis.
Milwaukee, Beacon 3, Boston, Washington, Tucson, North Charleston, Denver 2, Boise and Oakland 1 are the best. Of the current leg, Berlin 2 is the best.
Cheers, Artery. Will go onto ER promptly and start filing my boots (of Spanish Leather)
@Jaygee if you are on Twitter follow Ben Wolfindale he buffs up recordings and posts them on Expecting Rain. Usually notifies of a newie.
Will check him out on ER (I steer well clear of Twitter)
Cheers, all.
There speaks a fan! Or dare we call you an…. obsessive…? Hope you enjoy the show!
EDIT – Ooops, I see you already reported back, below!
I saw him on the American leg last year. It was excellent, probably the best show I’ve seen from him. His band were great, and he was really chatty (i.e. he spoke twice).
Just back from the Palladium. It was terrific. And Doug Lancio on guitar is dreamy.
Good looking guy, is he?
Not a post I was expecting to see on this thread
I’m seeing him in Glasgow. It’ll be my first time but I loved R&RW so much I figured it was worth the risk.
Not much risk these days. Some gigs better than others I understand but the set list is pretty well set and he doesn’t change things up much.
Seems to vary the arrangements most nights according to the Bobaphiles who catch every show
No risk at all. All shows are very good, some are stunning.
I saw him at the Palladium last night. One surprise, one of the guitarists, Bob Britt, was missing for the whole show. No explanation given. However, Doug Lancio did an absolutely brilliant job playing all the guitar parts on one instrument. He was clearly elated at being given the room to stretch out. It was a very good show but no spine tingling moments for me.
One thing I hadn’t expected was the occasional way in which Dylan skips out from behind his piano to acknowledge applause. It is very camp. He minces across the stage, puts his left hand on his hip and makes a tiny little wave with his right hand at waist height. It only lasts a second then he is back to the piano. He did not look at all frail.
During the band intro he says “We love Joe Strummer. Joe’s wife is here tonight. Why don’t you stand up?” A blonde woman just in front of me stood up and received a round of applause. Presumably this was Lucinda Tait.
Lots of celebs around: Alan Yentob and Jimmy Page last night and Bill Nighy the night before.
The phone pouch business is quick and painless.
It was good to see a standing ovation for Mother Of Muses, a great song in my opinion. Oh yes we got a harmonica solo at the end of Every Grain Of Sand.
is he behind the piano for the whole show?
I am not going but slightly regretting it now as I see the 5 star reviews flow in. Still, in other news, looking forward to seeing Angel Olsen tonight.
Five star reviews for Dylan? Surely not….🙄
Not all 5 star. This one gives 2. As reviews go I’d it 2 too.
I understand palladium gig was a bit rough.

The 20 minute medley of Stock Aitken and Waterman covers was most ill-advised
Admittedly it was this one review in the Guardian that, er, flowed in

Off to see her on Monday in Dublin. Let us know what you think – hope she does her jaw droppingly good version of One Too Many Mornings
Well I thought she was just great – you’re in for a treat (well, two hopefully, with Bob to come as well). Hope you enjoy them both @Jaygee . Do report back.
Will do.
Looking forward to it and also Robert Plant and Saving Grace in between the two
80 year old Bob mincing. Not something you expect.
The phone pouches may have stemmed the youtube clips but I have heard some pretty good audio sourced from mics in spectacle frames. .
He was mincing like John Inman when he played Kilkenny in July 2019 (BD that is, not JI who was not “free” to attend the show due to his having died several years earlier)
