Not directly linked to the original post but it made me think of the Cat in the Hat’s debut for Fulchester Rovers in Viz’s Billy the Fish strip… “Rocks and Socks and Foxes Cocks”. I think Dr. Seuss would have appreciated the effort they made to retain the core values of his original work.
As a younger man, I used to alternate between Susanne Vega and Nick Cave in terms of which of them reminded me more of the Cat in the Hat from the books. Having seen Punk Britannia on BBC4, it is now no contest as the grown-up Nicky Tesco of the Members was clearly born to play “The Cat”, in the aforementioned “Hat”, and with very little call for prosthetics at all. (Wish I could attach a suitable image to back this opinion up…)
