There is smart-dumb (Iggy, Ramones, Cramps, the Cult) and there is dumb-dumb. I will listen to smart-dumb, but rarely dumb-dumb. However there is an innocence to dumb-dumb cliched rock. I wouldn’t dream of listening to it spontaneously, but as rawk bingo, TEAZE (i know) provide seconds of pleasure.
I am deeply tempted to generate a rawk bingo card for soirees when they are again allowed.

That’s a strange use of metaphor in the thread title.
Generally one sees “face like a bag of spanners” for someone who is particularly ugly and “dumb as a rock” for someone who is particularly brainless.

I’d say this was a dumb song but it cleverly cashed in on the Woody Woodpecker IP by having a pop song using his name and almost- but-not-quite using his trademark call in the chorus.
I am not sure Tex Avery saw a penny from the royalties.
