More of a Telecaster origin, to start with it was Twang conflated with half of my real name which I then shortened as it was too googlable where Twang gets you nowhere!
How could you not love a tune called “Raunchy”? Must have seemed a tad risque back when it was released, the sort of thing played in Soho strip clubs. Also, this is what George mastered to impress John for his Beatles audition.
Martin Simpson talking affectionately about him right at the end of Radio 4’s Today programme on Thursday – ‘he was the first guitar hero’. Does a good job of explaining how he got that distinctive twang sound.
Was listening to a compilation and his version of Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain…. presumably coz he wants to do it in his trademark lower end twang it just sounds like someone learning guitar. OOAA.
Blimey, thought he was long gone. One of my very first musical heroes.
I’m ashamed to say that I thought he was twanging it up for the
choir celestial myself.
RIP Duane

I wonder where @Twang gets his nom de plume from.

I’ve typed Jonatwang into Google and nada…….
Dear old Twangothan, I remember him well…

This was ok.
Duane’s album with Richard Hawley’s band was pretty good:

Damn. 40 Miles of Bad Road was the first thing I ever learned to play on my plywood and cheese wire Lucky 7.
