Following Wednesday nights Children in Need programme showing actor types making a covers album for the charity, I realised why I dont like Coldplay,…. Its Chris Martins voice. Here is Jodie Whittaker with a Yorkshire inflected cover, which I find quite engaging. And hats off to being such a fangirl, just watch her reaction at 2:55 as Jonny Buckland and Will Champion wade in.

JW could sing the works of Mumford, Celine Dion and Black Lace and I’d still be grinning like a loon.

Will you be having ‘a cheeky boogie in the kitchen’ too’? NEVER use that disgustingly twee 6Music listener phrase again.

Fair play to her for recognizing two people who aren’t Chris Martin from Coldplay
Gatz says
That’s what I thought. I swear if either of those two turned up to Sunday dinner with Chris Martin in tow their own families would be saying ‘Who’s that with Chris?’

The drummer rocking the “bald guy who wears a hat indoors at all times” look pioneered by yer man from the Hollies.

If that wasn’t set up beforehand I’m a monkey on a bicycle. Love Jodie but do come on!

I really enjoyed that. Her Yorkshire version is marvellous as is her fangirl enthusiasm. If her “surprise” was not totally genuine, I can forgive that. It’s showbusiness.

Hammer meet nail head.
That is exactly it – it’s Chris Martin’s voice.

A friend of mine thinks his voice is beguiling. I just find it deeply annoying. The same as I find his stage movements, (hunching over the piano etc) which just make me cringe.

Olivia Coleman getting ready to do Glory Box is a compelling watch. Her nervousness is hilarious and also contagious:

Olivia’s in it? Surely not.
“Olivia Colman says at home for a few minutes” – there’s a story.

You seen the 5ish Doctors? Olivia is asked if she is going to be in the 50th anniversary special. She says “I suppose so. I’m in everything these days”. Things haven’t changed.

Any actor who’s not already committed to some other project, if they get offered a decent part for good money then they aren’t likely to turn it down.
Who knows, in the peculiar world of showbiz, in another year or so they could be getting no calls from anybody.

Any actor who is ever offered a role in a sci-fi film or tv series should take it. There will always be a seat for them at a convention or comic con & can make beer money from autographs & selfies.

I once met the drummer from Coldplay (one of the bearded IndieBlokes in the clip above). He’s the musical brains behind the outfit, and is quite a gifted multi-instrumentalist and studio whizz. When I asked him if he ever had to practice the drums, it being the instrument he is least qualified for, he replied:
“No, I never rehearse, there’s no point as the drum parts are all so simple.”
