Well, I’ve started to knock out my records..
There’s no rhyme nor reason, I’m just pulling stuffdown from the loft and checking to see if it’s likely to sell..
Anything which looks like it’s likely to yield below £5 is going to the charity shop as I can’t be arsed .. I’m looking at you, Clifford T Ward ! ( Sob, the records are great, but sadly unwanted..)
I inherited a loft containing some singles from previous occupant who must have been a bit of a dance fiend..If you’re after S Express, Bomb the Bass and a few Madonna 45s then Crouch end Oxfam is your destination..
I’ve sold a few bits on ebay with – to me at least – some surprising outcomes..
The winner was Zuri Punx, by Sperma, a Swiss pink outfit.I was sent this when I was a social and I’ve got no memory of playing it in over 45 years. Received £55 for it from s grateful punter.
Joblot of singles went, a Scars album, Ultravox first.
Deeply unloved ? Poor old Dwight Twilley.. Fabulous powerpop, but ungiveawayable on ebay..See also Songs for Beginners, by Graham Nash..
Next batch includes Taste, J Geils, MC5, Tom Waits, Microdisney, The Gist..
Damned and Sex Pistols singles..
I’ll update.. You’ve been warned..

Ramones 1st, currently up for £5.50.
Lots of watchers
My best ebay sale @nogbad was one of those noughties crazy covers CD – to the compiler. Didn’t the record company lob him a few promos at least?
Blimey! Was it JR Hartley?
……tough crowd
Microdisney sold well when I used eBay.
It’s a pity eBay wasn’t around when CC and SO’H made those brilliant albums in the mid-80s or they might have sold a lot more of them.
Oddly, i just got an NM vinyl copy of Crooked Mile for half the price I paid for the CD a few years back
But Dwight Twilley tho’…
While very much of its time, Songs for Beginners still merits the occasional spin
It’s a brilliant record. I believe Danny Baker’s favourite ever album
It is indeed.
Unfortunately most people who really like it already have it.
I would think so
“Songs for beginners” is a great album!
The Dwight Twilley and power pop comments got me looking on ebay to see if there was any market for my Bob Segarini LPs. There isn’t.
Talking of downsizing, has anybody come across Vintage Cash Cow and used them? They seem to be a sort of Music Magpie for stuff – watches, cameras, toys, collectables etc etc. They don’t take vinyls or books (boo), or anything breakable eg china. https://www.vintagecashcow.co.uk
They send you free postage labels, you fill a box with stuff and they’ll come and collect it if you want. They then contact you with an offer – if you accept it the ££ goes into your bank account. If you don’t, or they don’t want what you sent them, they send it back free.
Obviously you’re not going to get top dollar, but it looks like a handy way of getting rid of stuff that’s too much bother to sell on eBay or wherever. I’ve got lots of odds and sods kicking about that I could get rid of when I’m back in Blighty next month. Seems too good to be true, but over 900 Trust Pilot reviews are almost uniformly positive (except for the few grumblers who reckon they could have got more at a car boot sale).
What do we reckon?
I really want some replies to this. I’m venturing into a loft full of, a 56 year old lifetime hoarder’s, stuff. That’s me by the way.
