Update (27.5.18). Well, if there was ever any doubt about how lovely a place this is, your generosity has just answered that question in no uncertain terms. In less than two days you’ve put enough in the fund to keep the site up and running for around a year and a half! A huge thank you to everyone who has chipped in – on behalf of EVERYONE who uses the site, posters, commenters, lurkers. If you weren’t able to donate at this point, no pressure – give what you can, when you can and if that’s just your moral support and razor-sharp wit, then that’s fine too.
A few people have donated by setting up small recurring payments of anything between 50p and a couple of quid a month. If you were about to donate please don’t let us stop you, but that might be a good way of doing it. Entirely your call (and you’ll need a PayPal account to do it, I think)
Thanks again Massive.
As many of you will be aware, The Afterword site is run entirely without costs …except for our internet hosting costs. Any work involved in keeping the site up to date technically and keeping those pesky Russian bots off the site is done on a voluntary basis, as is the small amount of Moderation time involved (compared to other sites, at least). No-one takes or makes any money from the site and we are an ad-free zone.
We get a great deal from our service provider on the hosting charges, but we do still have a monthly fee to meet (it costs roughly £70 a month to keep the site up and running).
Due to the generosity of members in the early stages, we’ve never had to issue a call for Donations, but that time is NOW! The few donations gratefully received over the last 12 months have only just kept pace with the outgoings, so we need to top up the coffers.
Whatever you can spare will help, no matter how small the amount. To donate, please use the DONATE button at the top of the site. This will take you to a PayPal donations page but you don’t need to have a PayPal account to donate.
Regrettably, there’s no way for us to acknowledge the donations individually, but rest assured all contributions to the site, financial or otherwise, help to keep it alive, make it the warm and lovely place it is and are much appreciated.
