We have no idea what breed our (rescue) dog is. Always figured she was the product of generations of inbreeding on the streets of Romania (sorry, you can’t escape Eastern European immigration even on a thread about dogs), and were never that bothered about it.
Over the weekend my brother pointed me to a BBC report about the legacy of Chernobyl (we have a right old laugh together, we do). The dog that’s in this clip from about 52 seconds in is the absolute spit of our bad tempered, funny looking, much loved pooch. Would anyone like to hazard a guess to her lineage? Even if you don’t, you’ll still have seen an elderly peasant woman playing an accordion while a dog howls along, so KFD at least will be happy.

Arf!
I’d go for predominantly Jack Russell.
Maybe a touch of Corgi in there somewhere influencing the colour, giving it a fatter, stumpier body (particularly noticeable when sitting down).
Got 3 myself: 1 “proper” Jack Russell, 1 muttley JRT/Bichon Frise cross. The third is the product of these two, and has taken more of the JRT genes, just with a bit extra fluff.
Ta. We always figured there was quite a lot of terrier in there. She has a domed skull a bit like a chihuahua as well, although she’s big for a chihuahua – about the size of a small JRT.
I’d agree – lots of JRT in there. We’ve got 2 now, having lost 1 in Feb.
The domed skull thing can come in from Spaniel crosses too. Anyone who thinks there’s any such thing as a pure JRT knows nothing about them!
We’ve shared our lives and home with Russells for over 30 years now; cracking little dogs.
Happy indeed! You certainly know buttons to press. Old peasant woman dogging with an accordion.
My dog bowl runneth over.
just joshing, chief
You owe me a new iPad due to the wine I spat on it when I read your comment about KFD.
I clearly have a reputation in these parts as a man of rather esoteric tastes. Here’s an 85 year old lady from Taiwan squeezing out some sounds on the squeezebox.
And what red-blooded male among us can resist the charms of the delightful, rather frisky Molly B from Slovenia?

An accordion-playing milkmaid! Who’d have thought?
The Afterword is a place where dreams come true, Mike.
Here to celebrate that fact is a Gaelic song by Silly Wizard: My gentle milkmaid.
Sorry Kid! Thanks to me this thread has gone to the dogs.
I believe the correct term for that breed is Heinz 57
Or a Bitser. (Bitser this, Bitser that.)
Ups for the Chernobyl joke….. I haven’t heard that for thirty years. Glorious!
We are about to get our rescue dog DNA tested, it costs about £50 and tells you every breed that’s in there. I think Pets At Home sell a kit
When registering the family dog my Dad nominated North American Coon Hound.
It was of course a terrier bitser.
Amused him every time he received the registration papers.
Tempted to give Boris, Gove and Farage the DNA dog test. Might be revealing. The dog? A brown one and a mainly brown one, with a nearly white grandparent.
