Yes, that as well. As someone who drives a 10-year-old Golf which is just a box to get my PA from a to b in a modicum of comfort, they’ve always been three times more expensive than I’m prepared to pay. However much my colleague goes on about how great it is. Yes, Kevin, I’m looking at you.
Even £20k is about 50 percent more than I’ve ever paid for a vehicle. My motah – the most expensive I’ve ever owned – is a 10 year old Scooby in superb condition with just over 30,000 miles on the clock. One lady owner. Cost me 13 and a half G. Tesla can go drive itself up Elon’s arse.
Yeah, that as well. I think my Golf was 12 or 14k, with 6 months of “demonstration” on the book (although it had been tucked away in the far corner of the showroom, and still had chalk lines on the tyres – who would buy something as dull as a grey diesel estate? Well, I would.)
‘Stepping back’ not ‘standing down’. Is that the same thing? Personally I’d like to see him strapped to one of his own rockets and sent into outer space.
This is a rumour. Trump is reported by one news outlet that he told his inner circle Musk would be stepping back in ‘coming weeks’. As a news story that’s pretty flimsy. I hope it happens but will wait until the event before I celebrate.
Musk’s intervention in the recent elections in Minnesota suggest he’s a significant liability. As such the longer he stays, the greater the chance he’ll lose the Republican’s the small majority they have in the House. And that will kick Bonespurs right in the tariffs.
Something that ‘might happen’ in a few weeks is impossible to really imagine now, given that everything changes at least once a day while the maniacs do their thing. There’s nothing predictable, everything is unstable.
I read somwhere that there is a time limit of 130 days for non government employees to work for the government, or something like that, so he was always going to have to step away. Mind you, I don’t think any rules apply to these megalomaniacs.
It was always going to be when, not if. The Oval office is only big enough for one fruitcake.
You think?
Link?
It’s in here, which reports Tesla has lost over a third of its value in the last 12 months.

A pretty well-engineered car, now tarnished by association.
I see nothing there about him leaving his WH role

Ta. No official statement though
It’s the ‘reported’ link, between the burning cars and the blue building, which links to the Politico site.
As I understand it, Tesla models have been overtaken by the competition which has contributed to the brand’s fall from grace.

When I was looking at cars in late Nov last year, you could get good used Teslas for about £20k
Yes, I believe the peak-value buy is an ex-fleet Tesla. The motors and batteries are apparently guaranteed for 100k miles.
So all this is about cars. Triffic.
@ deramdaze
Doesn’t this belong over on the Bruce Springsteen thread?
Bruce also does songs about girls, and sometimes
cars and girls

I bought my Jaguar I pace in November with 21k on the clock, just over 2 years old at 40% of its original list price.
Buying a car new is a mugs game.
Did he jump or was he pushed?
Something predicted by The Rest Is Politics US’s Anthony Scaramucci for a long time.
Given Orangey”s past form, I think pretty well everyone anticipated the
bromance wouldn’t last.
Amazingly, not even a story on the Gruan website a couple of minutes ago

@Boneshaker
That would surely represent/require some kind of stepping up on EM’s part

There’s a reason there’s no collective noun for ‘megalomaniacs’.
I’m sure we could come up with one. I’m guessing four letters.
‘A load of sh*t’, perhaps…?
‘A bastardy of megalomaniacs’?
A lobotomy of megalomaniacs
Stolen from Twix.
..Now about to go up in price because they’re made in China.

My prediction is Donald will drop a drum and bass concept LP next month.

He still appears to be there
His Tesla has “failed to proceed” and he can’t afford the post-tariff cost of the replacement parts
