Little pop music is as downright enjoyable than a spin through Dick Dale’s 45s of the early 60s. Jasmine put out a wonderful compilation a few years ago – that’s my listening today.
Sorry Theresa et al.
The last time I saw John Peel was at Dick Dale’s mid-90s gig at the Cambridge Junction. Sheila had not long come out of hospital following an aneurysm. Peel was in tears during the whole set.
Oh no that really is a shame. He was someone who did actually deserve the tag “legend” – I was lucky enough to see him playing at the Festival Hall a few years ago as support for the Fall. He was absolutely brilliant and will be sorely missed. One of the very best sets I have ever seen anyone play.
RIP DD

“We’ll never hear surf music again.”
