    Superb writing and I’m in awe of your positivity and sense of, well, normality, about the situation you find yourself in.

    I thought about this place last week. I was back home in Norfolk visiting my Mum, out in the garden, looked up and saw a massive Red Kite. It was just gliding, literally effortlessly, on the air. Magnificent!

    And well done on the rubber mat. Jen and I had a minibreak in an AirBnb down the coast a couple of months ago. The tiles in the shower were lethally slippery, and we both had scary moments. So we drove about 20 miles to the nearest Bunnings and bought a rubber mat. I wouldn’t be without it now. Essential piece of kit for them as ain’t as young as they was. Thumbing your nose at rubber mats is the same as thumbing your nose at automatic gearboxes. Makes no sense.

  6. Brilliant post as ever but it has made me very hungry indeed. For some reason it made me recall an exquisite lemon ravioli dessert I had in the Dordogne of all places
    If you want a good recommendation for a great USA radio station can highly recommend WFUV from Fordham New York. It was where I first heard A little bit of everything by Dawes which I posted on here very shortly afterwards as I was so smitten by it.

  7. A wonderful blog from yourself Niall and your lovely wife Janet. You both seem to be handling things really well, positivity is a great resource.

    I’m listening to the Paper Kites at this moment and I’m liking what I hear, it’s a certainty I’ll be availing myself of some of their albums anon.

  9. For a variety of reasons your wonderful prose moved me to tears and enormous admiration for you (both).

    Lovely to hear from Mrs B and her words of wisdom we much should be read by all. Both as advice (if in her unenviable position) or shedding light to think of the parter providing support.
