That all sounds like good news, and there are some bangers to discover in those CDs.
Wasn’t the recent sunny spell lovely? We went to Norfolk for the weekend and I was able to be out in the milky sunshine without turning purple. Given the temperature never got above 8 degrees C, and with a stiff sea breeze, I was more likely to turn blue.
The Three Pigeons. A proper boozer. In all my time working in Guildford, Innever went in (The Green Man – behind Sainsburys in the main).
Cremant is the everyday (and some special days) fizz of those in the know. The Aldi Cremant Rose (currently waiting for it to return to stores) is probably the best £10 wine I have tasted in the last few years.
Glad you had a good few days. Red Kites seem to be growing in numbers – I will keep my food under careful watch.
Huge grin on my mug here after reading your latest. So glad you found you could smile at the synchronicity of the passing years. Another lovely missive Niall, thank you for the inspiration. Loads of Red Kites hereabouts; they seem to have come roughly SW along the Ridgeway, a field or two at a time, over the last ten years or so. We’ve always had lots of Buzzards, but these days it’s probably fifty-fifty between the two; if you see crows mobbing a huge raptor overhead it’ll be one or the other.
Thanks for the latest instalment. I had been looking for it this week. I love that picnic – what a great menu for some Al fresco food.
My late uncle lived in Marlow. I only ever went to his house once but remember it had a big garden running down to the Thames.
It sounds like your positivity if anything is getting stronger which is great. Well done mate.
@SteveT Thanks, Steve. If your Uncle had a riverside property in Marlow he must have been minted, at some point. Scary Spice sold hers, 30 years ago, for 10 million.
Well let’s say he had the gift of the gab.
He died of a heart attack at the age of 54 – he smashed his car into a brick wall, probably drunk. He was a serial womaniser and if I am honest not a very nice man. The complete opposite of his brother, my dad. Strangely I don’t recall him leaving any money to either my dad or his only son. I suspect he was probably in mortgage arrears – certainly his widow didn’t speak very highly of him.
Were you near Banbury?

@davebigpicture Ha, not too far from Banbury to Marlow, (48 miles as the Kite flies.)
Lovely read, as ever, but the video mentioned of the box opening seems not to be included. Glad your neck, groin and oxters are Gregor free.
@retropath2 I meant to take mention of the video out.

@fentonsteve Thanks 🙏

@Leedsboy I shall pass the Cremant info to Janet, thanks. I forget you knew the Three Pigeons. Cheers 🙏

@Vulpes-Vulpes Thank you, my friend 🙏
Bit disappointed there wasn’t “lashings of ginger beer” for the picnic, but it looks like it was quite a spread.
@dai Dammit!
What a wonderfully entertaining page from your diary.
The red kite swooping in and helping itself to the last sausage roll was an amazing moment of drama.
@Kaisfatdad Thanks 🙏

Ouch.
