Everything makes me cry (even comedies), so it’s no surprise that I’m sitting here blowing my nose and dabbing my eyes, but I’d be surprised if anyone can get through that entry without tearing up…
I am learning so much about how we treat cancer, the effect it has on you and the people around you . Hopefully I will never have to use it though. Fantastic insight as usual Niall and fingers crossed Jan will be with you soon once the cold is better . Well done both of you .
You are so right about Macmillan they were wonderfully supportive to my wife and to me when we sorely needed a kind word and a helping hand.
My blessings to you and Jan.
Colin was a keen cyclist with a collection of high-spec road bikes.
After work one Monday, Colin went to the pub round the corner from the office for his dinner, then stayed in the pub for the live music evening, then attempted to cycle home. In the dark and, being slightly intoxicated, Colin got cut up by a taxi at a T-junction, wobbled, his front wheel clipped the kerb, and he went over the handlebars. He had the foresight not to risk breaking his wrists by putting out his hands, so he used his face to cushion the fall.
Colin rang me the following morning, to say he’d gone to A&E last night because his face was bleeding, then was off to an emergency dentist appointment, because he’s broken four of his front teeth on the kerb.
I don’t know if brilliant is the word that should be used in such circumstances but that is exactly what your post is.
So uplifting about a subject that is anything but.
We have a friend who is a palliative care nurse and I can honestly say it is so much more than a job. Their dedication is unbelievable.

Sending strength and love to both of you!

@Bejesus Thank you 🙏
No one cares about the carer.
An observation very well made Niall.
@Junior-Wells I’ll say thank you on behalf of my friend, Jack.

Likewise for my sister and her partner when he was ill. A wonderful charity which makes a huge difference to people.
@Gatz Jan used to run coffee mornings at work, 10-15 years ago. Little did she know how much she would need them.
@Pencilsqueezer They’re wonderful 🙏
Manly hug Niall. And I agree on The Secret Agent – excellent.
@Twang 🙏
“Fucker. We’d just had that ceiling painted.”
Phil reminds me of my ex-colleague, Colin.

“Oh Christ! How’s the bike?” I asked.
Colin put down the phone.
@fentonsteve Perfect! I love that dark humour.
Tears in my eyes, thoughts provoked and a recommendation for a TV series. In one post. You spoil us Niall.
Janet is smashing – definitely a keeper.
@Leedsboy Oh, yes. i think so too.
