When my daughter was born (in Montreal), we went back to the UK a few months later to introduce her to family and friends. One friend had recently had twins and they had a form of meningitis, her whole family was quarantined so my daughter was introduced to close family friends through a window with them standing outside in the garden and waving and making faces at her.

Some lovely and thoughtful gifts there, Niall, and if we hadn’t already understood what a nice guy you are, we’d know it from the many friends in your diary entries rallying around you and showing their love and appreciation.
Making lemonade out of lemons: it can be a good thing to get to long for someone you love, partly to remind you how important they are, partly because the reunion will be wonderful.
But I do hope that your reunion will be very soon!

As Tom Petty said ‘The waiting is the hardest part’ I am sure just bring reunited with Jan is going to see a massive uplift of your spirits.
If you want a feel good film to watch with Jan then would highly recommend Song Sung Blue -,spoiler alert you will need tissues.
