And why is the page not framed in black given the death of Budgie sqwarker in chief, Burke Shelley? For Shame. Power Trios became synth duos, and now we have one man bands. Its diminishing returns.

Budgie did some great stuff in their prime.
I’m sorry to hear that.
One of my schoolfriends lent me Squawk sometime in the mid-70s – think I’ve still got it!
Budgie were great!
The OP has me wondering, if Motörhead had formed in the 80s, would Eddie be standing behind a Roland and Phil Taylor’s only contribution to the band being his lyrics for their hit “I Am The Road Crew”.
In the nineties Eddie and Phil would be running the label and website respectively, while Lemmy was able to produce everything from his bedroom, only pausing to take calls about doing lucrative remixes to pad out the CD singles of bigger acts who couldn’t be arsed to write a b side..
Breadfan on full blast, to be followed by Crash Course In Brain Surgery
(I admit it was Metallica that made me check out Budgie – thank you Large Oilrig)
Hot as a docker’s armpit…
The first band I ever saw live.
Supporting Gillan at the ABC in Great Yarmouth in December 1981. I’ll post it then….
I saw them at St Andrews Hall Norwich in the mid 70s a couple of times. Good live band. Never bought their records though.
I’m guessing I saw them either the day before or the day after at the Ipswich Gaumont.
A proper band for proper gigs.
Great band. Also the subject of a classic HORA from the Hep.
