The Union Chapel Islington
This is a weekly event on Saturday LUNCHTIME from12.00 to 2 pm at the Union Chapel Islington.
I’ve only been to one, yesterday, but after seeing William D Drake, of the Cardiacs, Laetitia Sadier of Stereolab and the fantastic Ed Dowie with a set based on use of the UC organ and voices.
Ed Dowie did mesmerising versions of Between the Wars and erm, Toto’s Africa,….
Each of the other acts was fabulous and the setting, with a tea and cake fuelled ambience was a lovely way to spend a couple of weekend hours.
I think you could have safely burgled Hipsterville in Dalston, but there were also lots of parents with tinies.
It made me think..
Should be going on everywhere..
£5 suggested donation with a charity refreshment offer, what’s not to like ?
Please don’t ALL go to the next one as I’ll not be able to get in, but it was genuinely magical.
If you’re in town for something else, I’d very much recommend you factoring it in.
