January has become Bowie month these last few years in the sewers anyway, so that’ll be more gasoline for the fire.
A few repeats of stuff you might have missed on BBC 4 too..
Great gesture from the BBC. Seems that Bowie is nearly forgotten as an artist – it’s been almost three weeks without a “new” overpriced reissue. 😉
We can only hope these radio shows make it into a series of limited-edition 7″ coloured vinyl, in a box (purchased separately).
It’d be an idea, instead of trotting out the same old documentaries and talking heads going on about Bowie, if commissioning editors marked the fifth anniversary of his death by somehow channeling DB’s sense of curiosity and discovery, maybe use Bowie as a framing device to present obscure or new artists, across all media.
As it is, yes, we’ll probably just get a few more middling 90s gigs in awful packaging and pointless box sets
Love Bowie, but I think there are some other artists (late or otherwise) deserving of a few BBC shows. Bowie has had several themed nights already it would seem.
Apologies, I misread the title and thought it was yet another BBC Four themed night. Radio only might be more interesting.

If you can avoid it, anything that 2021 has to throw at us afterwards will be a doddle.

Jeezlooeeze, this is quite a turn up on the site where the flimsiest premise will yield a three hamper Beatles thread. As with the man’s catalogue on Spotify, this stuff is just there – no-one is making you listen to it if you don’t want to..

I do share some of the concerns re “sameyness” mentioned above, and so may I point you towards this:
“This month 3rd Stone From The Sun will mark the 5th year anniversary of the passing of David Bowie with two David Bowie Specials.
The first show – Run From The Shadows – will air live at 3pm – 6pm Friday 8th January with “another chance to hear” airing at 7pm – 10pm Saturday 9th January.
This first show is in collaboration with listener Davey O’Sullivan who is based in Dublin.
The second show – Lust For Life – will air live 3pm – 6pm Friday 22nd January with “another chance to hear” at 7pm – 10pm Saturday 23rd January.
Both shows will be feature tracks that influenced Bowie – Bowie tracks that influenced other artists…..and tracks by The Cracked Actor himself.
