My son tells me that this was mentioned on Absolute radio today but I hadn’t seen it. Sad to say that the contribution from the mighty Bantams is like our league position the poorest but some of the other matches are genius.

You reds! Who cares about music! Barnsalee Barnsalee Barnsalee!
Congratulations, I was at Oakwell when you got promoted to the Premier League. Good luck in the Championship unfortunately we’re exiting League 1 in the opposite direction.
You were there for the happiest moment of my life? (Don’t tell the wife and kids I said that!)
Watching the joy on my 9 year old’s face tonight, after I had given in to his constant shouts of what’s the score and brought him back downstairs for the last 10 minutes, was like looking at myself from 40 years ago when we beat Grimsby to get promoted from the old fourth division (in front of 21,000 fans!). He cannot wait to go to school and tell his Sheffield Wednesday supporting mates that we’ll be playing them again next season.
All that remains is for Luton to continue to choke and for us to win our first league title since 1954 (I hope). Looks more likely that we’ll lose it on goal difference. If only we hadn’t lost our leading scorer to injury for most of the last couple of months of the season.
Don’t worry your secret is safe with me, I was happy to applaud your team that day and fortunately we followed you up shortly afterwards.
Your sons at a good age to appreciate whats happening, mine was only 5 when we had our promotion / league cup final season a few years ago and whilst he went to the games the importance and rarity kind of passed him by. You’ll live off the memories from this and next season for a long time no matter how next season plays out. Good luck on Saturday.
I was just about to say looking forward to playing you next season and maybe having another epic playoff final…and then I remembered we’d been pants all season and have actually been relegated. I’m curiously not that concerned and quite looking forward to new grounds. And winning more than 4 games in a season. Hopefully.
Don’t take League One for granted. That’s what Sunderland have done. There are some good teams down there. You should enjoy it though, because the level of cheating is nowhere near Championship standard. You will get the odd player who likes falling down, but they are few and far between. Most importantly, you won’t find many teams trying to referee the games. You know, surrounding the referee, trying to get players sent off. Seriously, it’s been a breath of fresh air.
And it you go to one away game go to Accrington Stanley. You won’t find a friendlier club. They gave us half the ground and even set a fanzone up for us, with a big tent, selling hot food and serving beer at £2 per pint. They even had entertainment in there, a bloke with a guitar singing loads of modern pop songs that I didn’t know, but my son sang along with.
The downside of League One is you get Joey Barton, but hopefully he’ll be back inside eating porridge by the time next season starts. And when was the last time you were two divisions below Norwich? That can’t be easy.
Glad you enjoyed your trip to the Wham Stadium ( Insert tired George Michael joke here) We are delighted with finishing in mid table mediocrity/ Work has already started on a new pitch…Hurrah!
@paul-wad
Morning Paul! I hope we don’t take it for granted. The team we put out against Preston contained no loanees, so was very likely to be the team we might start with in League 1. We got tonked 4-0!
Looking forward to visiting Fleetwood and yes I’ve heard good things about Acrington too.
Most of the rest of my family support the yellow peril..how that’s been allowed I don’t really know so I’ve taken a lot of stick but I’m genuinely ok with where we are. Go backwards to go forwards and hopefully the football will continue to be easier on the eye.
Good luck next season, last time I went to Barnsley we lost in the last minute..Paul Macken??
Jon Macken. But don’t talk to me about the last minute of games against Ipswich. I was ‘watching’ our game on teletext one year (tell the kids of today…etc) and turned it off to watch the classified results on BBC One at 4:50 safe in the knowledge that we’d secured a resounding 3-0 win. Seriously, when he read out 3-3 I thought they’d buggered it up and copied our score on to Ipswich’s side, but a call home to my dad a short while later confirmed the worst. 3-0 at 89 minutes, 3-3 at full-time, with Ipswich either hitting the bar or knocking one just over the bar with the last kick of the game. To this day Reds fans don’t count their chickens until the final whistle goes!
Jon, of course. We had him on loan and all.
I remember that 3-3 but didn’t think it was this old…

Bowie?
Sunderland or Portsmouth.
Too much coverage/glitter; always a disappointment.
Better sticking to Tim Hardin – a.k.a. Wycombe Wanderers – barely known, always the underdog, gives 100%, the great unwashed haven’t heard of you.
I think you should just click on the twitter link @deramdaze. It’s a visual thread. Well worth doing.
Saw this last night and forwarded to Pompey & Southend supporting friends who would appreciate it. I’ve got a soft spot for Charlton – well in the playoff mix – so was pleased to see one of the Dame’s more outlandish costumes compared to their really rather attractive current away kit.
I reckon Charlton will win the play-offs. I’ll certainly have a laugh when they beat Sunderland.
They’re certainly on a bit of a good run. My Dad is a Portsmouth fan, so if Charlton don’t make it, I’d like to see them go up instead.
Congratulations on Barnsley’s promotion – they’ve been strong all season and deserved to go up. It’s fun watching Ian MacMillan’s posts on Twitter when they do well.
I see Duncan Jones has retweeted it, admiring its “utter silliness” .
Ah crap, sorry Moose, this thing’s broken. We’ll have to walk from here.
Never mind – I have my hoop and stick. We’ll be there in no time.
By which I mean at no time will we be there.
