I’ve been told by a mutual friend that Dave Kusworth has passed away at the age of 60. He was half of the Jacobites, with the late Nikki Sudden, as well as a member of TV Eye and the Subterranean Hawks with Stephen Duffy, before forming his own band, The Bounty Hunters.
I was lucky enough to see Dave and Nikki reunite a few years before Nikki’s death and play a short set in a Camden pub one Sunday afternoon, along with my mate Paul, who was in the later line up of the Bounty Hunters with Dave. Truth be told, it was supposed to be a set headlined by Paul, with support from Dave and Darrell Bath (ex Dogs D’Amour) on guitar, and he was understandably more than a little miffed when Nikki turned up and took over! But bugger me if I haven’t found some (albeit, lo-fi) footage of the show in question, so as a tribute to Dave, here it is.

Sad news. Mercury Rev introduced me to the Jacobites when they covered Silver Street, and it’s still my favourite song of theirs

I met Nikki Sudden at a Rolling Stones concert in Zurich, we were both in the pit and were introduced by a mutual acquaintance. He used to follow them around Europe, which, to a degree, is what I was doing that year (2003).
