This turned up on my FB feed. It’s a Capitol Radio documentary about the early days Edmunds & Lowe. Includes some demos that I had never heard before. It’s only 22 minutes long so give it a blast. Also features some Springsteen.

It’s ‘Capital Radio’ and that was when it was pretty much the best radio station for people like us. I remember listening to (and recording) it when it first went out. Dave Edmunds was a fairly regular visitor on the Roger Scott show. ‘Get It’ having been played in it’s entirety one evening at about 6 o’clock.
The tracks from the ‘Beverly Brothers’ session were those on the free EP that came (many years later) with Seconds of Pleasure – they’re on the CD version as well.
Paul McCartney sometimes turned up to Capitol Radio and appear on the Roger Scott show when he had a new album to promote. Scott was a great presenter. He’d sometimes sneak the odd Beatles bootleg track into the show without comment.
Yeah, I have a Rockpile boot with the Everly show on it but I’d never heard this before. And I’d never even heard of CapitAl radio before The Clash.
Brilliant stuff. Thanks Gav.
Lord, I remember staying in one wednesday night, listening to that on the wireless, buying Seconds of Pleasure the next day, along with the EP mentioned as an extra.
I must dig out my Rockpile promo interview LP. They talk about their £1-a-minute club. That’s where they go into a bar and have to spend that amount on drink for the time they are in the place. Beat’s my £1-an-hour rule.
