Guys, first up a big thank you to everyone who gave me advice over my problem with my mobile phone provider. You may remember that they were going to charge me £447 for using more data than I was allowed. I wrote them a stiff, but polite letter which centred round advice that YOU people gave me. To wit:
a) That 50p per MB for usage was not a fair charge. That was robbery.
b) I need to see where and with who and when I used all this excess data
c) Why wasn’t I informed after I got to within 80% of my usage, as is standard industry practice?
I never actually received a response to my letter, but I got yesterday a revised bill of £134.10.
And no, I’m not paying that either.
Again, thanks.

Gerritrightupthem big man!
Cheers Mr C… you know me… I don’t give up easily.
Keep at ‘em.
Good luck and don’t let the bastards grind you down!
Up and at ’em, geacher!
I use a google app called Datally. It tells you what you’re using in real time and also blocks background apps accessing data.
Thanks all! Onwards and erm….onwards!
Final Update. I refused to pay Unicom £134.10…. “but we have reduced your bill by over £300 as a sign of good faith”
Yep, thanks for that, but I NEVER used that data.
“OK here’s another credit of £50. Pay us the balance of £84.10 by return”
Nope. I NEVER used that data.
Today I received a credit not for everything.
It pays to stand up to bullying, y’know when your right, then your right. Log every call, time you called, who you spoke to, even tell them you are recording calls. Ask them to confirm any salient points by email so you have a record. Fuck ’em.
Thanks to you all for your help, guys. Appreciated.
Brilliant news.
Now change provider!
Oh that’s been done. Maybe I didn’t say, but I have been with Unicom for ten years and as I retired in September and my current contracts ended on October 31st, I think this erroneous bill was a “goodbye” from them…. the goose is dead, so lets get what we can.
Good news indeed.
