Obituary
Only 53, sadly, which is no age. Think I was an angry rock fan when his most famous singles were out (Sunchyme and Carnival de Paris) but, as is often the case, they’ve aged much better than anything else I was listening to at the time. I actually stuck Sunchyme on having heard the news, and it really is a great uplifting tune. Mind you, Life in a Northern Town is a good place to start.

Sunchyme is a great tune. I have fond memories of managing to get about 350 white label 12” of it before release and selling them all in HMV in Hull (where I was Assistant Manager) before it’s official release at about £7 a pop. Did great business on its official release too. Still sounds great, but really evocative of it’s time.
No age at all as you say.

He was a year younger than me. I’m DJing at the school fete next week, I’ll drop Sunchyme in as a nod.
