Great Whit Stillman film (it’s also on Netflix)

It’s better than Sorcerer (1977), but then most things are.
Musings on the byways of popular culture
Is this a Carry On film? Set to record.
If you are hoping for Joan Sims you will be sadly disappointed. Am set to record too. Not seen this one, but keen to watch it as I loved Whit’s previous film Metropolitan.
wasn’t Metropolitan his debut? I loved his next one, Barcelona, which seems to have disappeared with no DVD or bluray available for ages (ever?).
Thanks for the heads up, I will record this. (And probably not get round to watching it for six months).
Looks fun. Will look out for it.
I knew Whit Stillman in Paris. Really. Wore a tweedy suit with a waistcoat, nothing flash, just very gentlemanly. When I told him I enjoyed Metropolitan, he made a wry face and said, “wordy,” as though it was a bad thing. A bit wordy himself.
Impressive H.P. Respect. How did you get to meet him?
Then again, in Paris, perhaps all the ex-pat men and women of letters gather in the same cafes on the Rove Gauche? Just like they did in the times of Joyce and Hemingway.
The reality is that you probably met him in MacDonalds.
FYI
I rented Barcelona from Amazon’s streaming service a month or two ago. £2.50 with a £1 off coupon for recently buying a DVD. It’s good but it’s the weakest of his four movies. I rank them:
Damsels In Distress
Last Days of Disco
Metropolitan
Barcelona
Yeah, his films are wordy but is that actually a bad thing as long as it’s good dialogue?
Also see the film Francis Ha if you enjoy Damsels (same lead actress). It’s on Netflix.
