D A Pennebaker has finished his last reel

Sad news, but in fairness he enjoyed an extended Director’s Cut of a life. And he has left us a great legacy of iconic, groundbreaking films. Only last week I was able to enjoy the unearthed footage he shot of Marianne and Leonard in their Hydra idyll, which forms a major part of Nick Broomfield’s wonderful, elegaic film.

This explains why the Depeche Mode virtual world is posting clips from his 101 film today.

I have shared this before – you don’t have to like the song – the interesting part of this clip is the lighting engineer playing along to the live performance.
