Art music is full of these two-surname people – Havelock Nelson and Havergall Bryan come immediately to mind. And there aren’t many opportunities in which one might say that.

There’s also one who seems to have his name backwards…young Wyatt Roy – his name must cause confusion on the voting forms when they put surnames first.
Probably the biggest influence on Nottingham’s built environment is an architect who was born Fothergill Watson, his first name being his mother’s maiden name. After his father Robert died, he changed his name to Watson Fothergill to maintain his mother’s family name, clearly believing there were sufficient other Watson’s around.
