You come across a motherlode of great music and you wanna share it- we have all been here before haven’t we ?
Apart from the production qualities and the If Only I Could Remember My Name vibe to this, I love how DC really listens and enjoys the other musicians doing their bit rather than just waiting til he comes back in again.

3 threads in a row! Think you may win a prize.
Couldn’t manage 9 minutes, but it’s pretty good. Never thought it was much of a song actually. Great singer, pretty average songwriter.
Junior Wells says
A mini hamper per chance! This 2 meter Dutch you tube channel has some great stuff. Currently watching a lovely John Hiatt rendition of Have A Little Faith just him and piano.
Couldn’t manage 9 minutes ? Well – you missed out.
dai says
Will try again later, at work at the moment.
Junior Wells says
@Dai , I should add that the Saints clip was posted about 12 hours ago such is the paucity of new posts while the UK slumbers.
dai says
Yes, I get that.
fitterstoke says
Love it….thanks for posting.
The YouTube channel sounds interesting…
Tony Japanese says
I’m sure I’ve seen this before…
Arthur Cowslip says

Yes stunning. In fact so good that I’ve made a fish pie whilst listening to it on repeat for one hour. I’ve convinced myself it’s so good that if he carries on like this he will be up there with the hitherto peerless John Martyn.
Vincent says
Modest correction: “John Martyn’s music”. He’s one of those times when it’s best to seperate the artist and the art.
H.P. Saucecraft says
That’s always true. If we start boycotting artists who don’t come up to our own high standards in their personal lives, we’re going to lose a lot of great music (and great art) (and great sport) (and great everything).
Vulpes Vulpes says
Christ, that is beyond wonderful. I’ve recently bought both of the CPR albums on their recent re-release, and they are fantastic; and how I wish that had been added to one of them! Unbelievably great performance, and superbly captured. I have subscribed. There will be days lost to that channel I fear.
H.P. Saucecraft says
Through the magic of mp3 and internet gaming where you win stuff by recognising crosswalks of chimneys or whatever, adding this track to an album is as simple as A-B-3!
attackdog says
In fact its so good I have hunted around and found this for your additional pleasure
attackdog says
In fact, here’s another
Twang says
Got to love the Cros. He’s a great talker too. I think Marc Maron did a good ep with him.
dai says
He does seem to fall out with just about everybody he’s ever worked with though …
Mike_H says
Pretty much any one of CSN&Y could start a fight in an empty room.
The harmony was vocal-only.
dai says
McGuinn and Hillman don’t want to work with him either.
Nash and Crosby were pretty much best friends for nearly 50 years until they fell out.
Moose the Mooche says
As per Terry Melcher’s immortal verdict.
Twang says
These days he’s equally hard on his own failings.
Lodestone of Wrongness says
Junior my boy – you is The Man!
H.P. Saucecraft says
Yup. You have to love the old cuss. He’s broke, you know. Everything hoovered right up, apparently.
John Walters says
Saw Croz at the Palace in Manchester about a year ago ( or was it two ).
Centre stalls about 6 rows back.
A truly wonderful concert.
nickduvet says
The Steely Dan influences are fairly obvious, especially on the Skytrails album. Raymond drops plenty of SD licks into those live clips. His playing also has the spirit of Lyle Mays, like on the solo in Deja Vu.
Thanks Junior, I’m following you down the rabbit hole
These guys can still surprise us. Here, Neil Young shows a detailed knowledge of soul music history
Twang says
Yes the Skytrails album is a fave here exactly as you say, it’s very Dannish.
Junior Wells says
Glad everyone likes it. Dunno why @Dai doesn’t rate it, the song not the performance. They did make it the title track after all.
Croz is pretty good on twitter, usually answers people if often brief. People send their joint rolling efforts For assessment.
Bloody McGuinn recently tweeted I’d love to wish you happy birthday but you have blocked me Croz. Well a. He blocked him for too many gotta get right with Jesus messages and b. Surely he has his phone number if he really wanted to reach out.
mikethep says
Passive aggressive, thy name is McGuinn…
H.P. Saucecraft says
He has Jesus’ phone number?
dai says
It’s ok, it’s no Country Girl though. And a good title for the album.
Roger McGuinn once answered an email I sent him in the days of rec.music.beatles. He was gracious but when I later became a massive Gene Clark fan I lost some respect for him (and Crosby) for their attitude towards Clark. Jealousy of his songwriting genius and the ensuing royalties he picked up. By a mile the finest writer in the band, and maybe Hillman was second…
Junior Wells says
Had a binge of Gene Clark the other day. Great voice but none of the albums really grabbed me including the Asylum one.
dai says
No Other? Tis a grower and I love it.
Otherwise hope you checked out the following:
Gene Clark with the Gosdin Brothers
The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard and Clark
“White Light”
Roadmaster
There is also a compilation of all his Byrds tracks which is essential, but expensive.

H.P. Saucecraft says
I think it’s a mistake to let your knowledge of their personal lives and behaviour taint your appreciation of their music.
Junior Wells says
Not easy to do, once you know.
dai says
Yes I know (within reason). One of the great moments of my concert going life was the first time when I saw CSN live (2005), when I first heard his solo voice singing. I couldn’t believe how good he still sounded.
He also said something like “Steven writes the rock anthems, Graham writes the hits, I do the weird shit”
Mrbellows says
That’s why we treasure. The weird shit.
Mrbellows says
There’s only one drug that produces this level of virtuosity and it’s green. I don’t know whose playing I enjoyed the most, they were all tasty. The drummer though, for that floor Tom flourish near the end that took time apart and put it back together again edges it for me. What a set of pipes on that man.
Junior Wells says
And at that age and with that life/style.
This appears to be from 2018.
Mrbellows says
Marijuana. It’s the only explanation.
MC Escher says
Mmmm… nice.
Whatever you think of the actual song, the sound guy(s) for this recording really know their shit, as you say, JW.
retropath2 says
Waaay better than the lacklustre filler on the same named album, which is/was a studio attempt to rewrite Carry On, doncha know, a difficult feat when all 4 in different studios. Or that was my evidence free opinion.
Arthur Cowslip says
Wow, I feel exactly the opposite. This performance is pretty good, but the album version is definitive. Cool and eerie, with those unbeatable CSNY harmonies.
Mrbellows says
Arthur Cowslip says
That’s the ticket.
retropath2 says
Nah, still add-on to fill out the album. Nice singing, shame about the song.
Junior Wells says
I was watching those other clips – thanks @attackdog and this popped up.
Seeing the marching band drummers march out and all those students in the orchestra I thought- this will be bad but, hey, it is pretty powerful. I don’t know who the musicians are though I recognise some faces.
Vincent says
Steely Dan and Pat Metheny Group flavours. I’m in.
