I almost can’t bear to watch these things as the interviewers are so awful.
But EC was fine; as good as you can be, covering a career in 5 mins.
Bill Turnbull was a dick : as ever much more interested in getting his scripted questions in and trumping his co-interviewer than actually listening to an answer. The woman (don’t know her) was better and seemed genuinely interested.
EC says he brought ‘nice Elvis’ to the studio. (He looks great, by the way.)
Yeah, Turnbull is a prize c*ck, retiring next year I believe. Not sure about Costello’s white hat…….

He looks closer to 50 than 61, though. Interesting that they focused on the death of his childhood friend, which although obviously significant would not necessarily be what you would focus on in a 5 minute puff piece. Suspect the researcher read the first few pages then did a quick Google.
This clip of Elvis Snr. was totally fab and groovy.
I started reading the book last night. Early on he mentions this clip, and how the face his dad pulls when singing the word ‘love’ is just like his own.
A remarkable amount of ‘self comforting’ from the El Vis. I thought he was in danger of stroking a hole in his cheek. Terrible hat. Nice boots.
